R.I.P.
Several of his Sixties records (some being repackages of earlier material) were faves in Manchester before the move to the Colonies.

When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."

Sad news. I'm a big fan--although, I have to admit, I didn't know he was still around :-[
Listening now, and will probably binge on  his playing for a couple days at least.

Interesting show - Bream at the beginning - along with Barney Kessel, the inimitable Jeff Beck, and folk-baroque guitarist John Renbourn, a few months post-break up of The Pentangle.
