I like this because it shows two great jazz guitar players. Far left, Barney Kessel, and far right, Herb Ellis.
Don't know who the other two are.

I'd suggest the most important aspect of shooting a photo like this is getting out of the way.

Yeah, that's a good one too. Taking creative advantage of the surroundings nicely. But also I think, a real smart arse of a shot with the photographer unapologetic about it.  ;D

I don't know why but this has to be my favorite photograph of Thomas Mann. I guess it's because I love his facial expression, so jovial.
"Javert, though frightful, had nothing ignoble about him. Probity, sincerity, candor, conviction, the sense of duty, are things which may become hideous when wrongly directed; but which, even when hideous, remain grand."

- Victor Hugo

Gelsey Kirkland by Richard Avedon.

The first time I saw this photo it was in a magazine where it was cropped and also across the gutter (split between two facing pages) but still worked, maintaining an aspect that was wonderfully dynamic.
Avedon shot some good stuff with her. And I imagine at around that point in her life she was a particularly interesting subject.
