Oh shit!  How disturbing!  Sorry about that.  Glad I changed my avatar...

That new avatar is even more disturbing!  ;D

Earlier this year I traveled (again) along the Channel and Normandy coast - Boudin's beloved region!  A great painter, a master of beautuful skies and clouds.

Paula Modersohn - Becker is another very interesting figure (Worpswede ) and some of her portraits are extremely intens and gripping.

How delightfully, mechanistically tidy a way of putting it! :D

Very nice paintings. I wonder how much of Modersohn-Becker's style influenced the work of Alice Neel whose paintings also have this Expressionistic look to them?

A few Alice Neel paintings:

That's the thing: it reads like a description of a tidy system that its author had in his/her head. It's not written with perspective in mind. And the way he/she adds that it will 'keep people from running into each other', as if they're inanimates, enhances this impression.

Hence my amusement.

(I grant you, too much exposure to Discourse Analysis may have simply damaged my brain. :P)

I just love it because of everyone in that photo, his reaction is the only one that's absolutely correct. ;D

Hi Coco - LOL!  ;D  But that reaction needs a caption, like:

My God! Am I going to look like that when I grow up!  EEEK!
