Savrasov: Sundown over a marsh, 1871

Love the reflection from the setting/rising sun (?), although the source of the light seems hidden!

Well, it is named Sundown, so presumably it is a setting Sun. It's obviously below horizon already, there is some light because of atmospheric refraction.

D'oh!

The reflection just seems to me a tad brighter than the actual light, that's all.

Yes, that is true.

I always liked this one by Max Beckmann:

Edward Hopper:

Edvard Munch:

Nice ones, John, especially the Munch.

My favorite artist is Gustav Klimt, but I admire the Impressionists and Expressionists most of all. Klimt is labeled as a post-Impressionist in one of my art history books, but I'm not sure how accurate the label actually is.

Klimt is someone whose art I haven't yet come to appreciate much, except for the one you posted earlier in this thread (some barn IIRC), and some others. I just can't stand the gold leafs. But seeing them live might change my view, of course.

One might be tempted to compare it brush strokes, but it is SO...O much bigger!

Mind you, that's being viewed from an oblique angle, almost from "overhead". That fount was likely many Earths tall and wide.

Symbolist & occultist Jean Delville (19 January 1867, Leuven/Louvain – Brussels 1953) had a weird and crazy imagination:

Gaston Bussière is a French painter. Très kitsch..but fascinating!

here's Salomé (1914)

If you want to reach suicidal depression, play this game. Nothing will prepare you for the truth during the second playthrough.

Lowest common denominator humor served up on a hot plate of refried Simpsons and Futurama. Never cared for any of these shows. Family Guy has to be just the stupidest, completely unfunny cartoon sitcom I've ever seen.

Yeah that's pretty funny Greg! ;D

Almost anything by H.R. Giger, especially "Spell 1":

The wizard that he was.

He would have been 94 yesterday.

If you haven't done so, when you have the time I urge you to watch and listen his lectures on The Character of Physical Law. Immensely interesting, thought-provoking and humorous. (Hey, almost any video of his can be described in that way.)

I guess you just don't like surrealist humor...
