Quote from: Papy Oli on March 13, 2025, 03:33:53 AMWell done Richmond.

Whaaaaatttt?!?!  :o

Well that's what I get for not actually watching the match because I thought it would be boring. This will cause chaos in footy tipping.

On the plus side, my brother-in-law will be in an extremely good mood.

Funny old game hey?

The Tigers scored something like 11 of the last 12 goals  :o

Just caught up on the Cats game. Was not watching at 2am   :P

Capitalised on a very poor Freo on the first half, 50 ahead at HT. Weathered a fight back in Q3 within 20 and then walloped them again in Q4 for a 147-69 win.

Solid all round.

Great impact by Bailey Smith to boot on his first Cats game. He was everywhere.

Saints away next week.

When a team loses after having a virtually unassailable lead at one point you'd have to question the cardio fitness of the players. It happened last year when the Lions coughed up a 49 point lead (paradoxically against Carlton) and the issue was promptly dealt with in training by Brisbane. I'd say that this was the case for Carlton when a young but fit Richmond side took them to the cleaners in the third quarter.

A record win for the Suns is not a bad way to start your season, hey @Holden  ?  8)

I watched the match and while the Eagles are a team at the bottom of the pile it was the way the Suns went about demolishing them that impressed me. In the past this might have been a 30 point win but an 87 point demolition says a lot about where Dimma has got this team at the moment. On top of that my favourite player Mack Andrew wasn't playing. A top eight finish would be a great result for 2025. However, lets see how they go against stronger opposition. Melbourne in round 3 (bye this week) will prove to be much sterner opposition.

Damn it we were rubbish, ran ragged all over the park for 70 minutes. Close to 50 pts behind at some point. We clawed some back somehow and missed a goal 2 minutes from time to be within one score only.

It's the hope that kills you, again... not that we deserved winning that at all.

Brisbane next week.

Gonna have to be much much better than that....

The entire office tipping competition failed on that one.

EDIT: I kid you not, the official AFL website's match report starts with : "Footy tipping exists to make fools of us all."

I didn't even think twice about tipping Geelong

Suns play in full red kits.
Dees play in half blue, half red kits.

You know what would be good? Make them play with a red footy as well.

Clear as muck to watch...

It's 3am , I am wide awake and grumpy.

@Holden must be drunk with glee under the table right now, looks like another thrilling win for the Suns.

Solid win by the Cats yesterday. Stifled the Dees repeatedly, with a great passing game to boot. A pleasing performance  8)

For a second there I thought I hadn't tipped Gold Coast. But I did.

Unfortunately so did almost everyone else. I'm 4 from 4 so far this week but so is half the office!

Dimma's magic seems to be working for the Suns. Is he smiling (or at least smirking) yet?  ;D

Just about to sit down in front of Roos v Swans. That will keep me quiet until Arsenal kicks off.  :P
Olivier

Yes, I am very happy with the Suns. They just look like a different team this season, there's more speed to their attack and the way they scrap in the midfield is almost ferocious. One thing I did notice in the first quarter was players giving away possession with wasteful and possibly unnecessary long range kicks. There's no doubt that Dimma made his feelings known about that at the first break. Here's hoping for a top eight finish for the first time.

Oh man, bloody hell, what a game Crows v Cats was. That's right up there in the bast games I have seen Geelong play so far.

It takes two teams and a loud adverse crowd to make it intense all the way through (with a few refereeing errors thrown in both ways). Down 30, then tit for tat for a long time, clawing back point after point and eventually holding the Crows at bay. No Henry and no Stewart in defence, no mean feat at a team in form as well.

Great stuff.

Look at that sweet timeline...  8)

We've got the Hawks at "home" (MCG) next round... yummy  8)

I backed the crows in the tipping, especially after seeing them play against the Suns. I suspect that most will have done the same.

We've got a guy in his 20s in our comp who's well along the spectrum and who got four perfect rounds last year. He already has one this year and I believe that he does it by quite deep analysis. He's a walking mine of information for all things AFL! If anyone got it right it would be him however, the caveat is that he hates Geelong and probably didn't back them for that reason. We will find out next Tuesday when the tipping results are published.
