Yes, that's right; no music whatsoever written by any composer whatsoever who identified themselves as Russian.

Could you survive?

Literally, sure.
But it would be a much darker world ... like Bucharest on a Monday night ...  :P
When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."

Why, that would be party like hell in my book --- especially if Russians are no more...  ;D

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.

Truly, you two doth spake?
That would be an interesting experiment in biology ... removal of the music ... the slow deterioration of your body-functions.

Thread winner!

To promote a certain xenophobic treat to Russian people or something like that?

Oh, yes, I am a clear and present danger to the Russian people...

Seriously, Cesar?

I answer with this: I consider myself neutral.  ;D

I know that you can't live with Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky et al. We're not forced to make it true. So, yes. I enjoy music independently of where it comes.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.  ;D

OK, just to make Florestan happy, I promise not to listen to any Russian music without thinking about the Gulag and Stalin's purges at the same time.

I also promise not to listen to any German music without thinking about the Nazis; not to listen to any British music without thinking about the Irish Famine; not to listen to any American music without thinking about the Trail of Tears; not to listen to any Japanese music without thinking about the Rape of Nanking; etc. And I further promise not to listen to any Romanian music without thinking about this:

Well, I know this thread is stupid. Please bear with my fluctuating gut reaction.

But fortunately I'm not the histerical here. I feel quite relieved.  8)

Good luck, and continue creating stupid threads.  ;)
