Just found out he died yesterday at night. His film scores and music in general were a part of my introduction to classical music, and I'm very grateful for that.

May he rest in peace.

That is interesting. Introduction to classical music? Not electronic synth music?
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Not properly because I used to have a CD that combined classical music themes with excerpts of film scores and a track by Vangelis appeared there. Somehow being a child I linked the Vangelis with classical music.

And thanks for participating. It seems that on this place nobody cared about his passing.

Damn! What a shame...I love his music, especially those earlier recordings like Heaven and Hell, Spiral and Soil Festivities (among others). I also loved the Bladerunner and Chariots of Fire soundtracks. I'll play some of his music over the weekend. I love electronic music and he's one of my favorites along with Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre.

RIP, Vangelis.

A follow-up to my previous post...

Many years ago I acquired all of the newly remastered Vangelis studio recordings (incl. his albums with Jon Anderson of Yes). They sound fantastic and they all feature white covers with the album cover in the middle. All are digipacks and have some nice artwork inside. Here's an example of what they look like:

He came to prominence with the group Aphrodites Child and the major hit Rain and Tears based on Pachelbels Canon. Demis Roussos was the singer.

Sad news. May God rest him in peace.
+1. I didn't know about his collaboration with Jon Anderson of 'Yes'.

Back in the Cretaceous period, when one could riffle through aisles of LPs, I remember there being an album.
