Any Soulfly fans here?

I've known of them/known their stuff for a long time but never became a fan but they have a damn nice sound and bongo percussion and have a tradition of selftitled-songs in a mystical style (compared to their main metal sound).

Great band from Brazil and Max obviously has his status back in the 'ole days with Sepultura

Metal is too beliefy for me. The "through the looking glass" aspect leaves me cold. This is rebellion? Go become porn stars, why don't you? Strike a blow for freedom.

Aesthetically I have no problem I'm aware of. Can anything be worse than that? For reasons too tiresome to go into I appreciate Blue Cheer. They made an appearance in a Pynchon novel, and for a good reason.

I like early Soulfly well enough. Not perhaps a biggest fan, didn't quite follow their work past mid oughts, but I do have couple of their early albums.

I await the new Satan. September.

Pretty much, but so good.

The love Sepultura's Roots album which was specifically Brazilian but Soulfly seems to be a more generic 'world music' vibe which does not do much for me (Soulfly is Max Carlevaro's post-Sepultura band)

There is so much good metal coming from all over the world drawing on local music traditions that is more interesting to listen to (like, say Melechesh, Rudra, Tenneger Calvary, or Wrust)

I never had much taste for Metal, in its various forms, but I do think I like the cover art, disturbing though it may be.

My old eyes have trouble reading the font from time to time, however...

Don't get me wrong I'm not laughing at it, find it groovy to know, In Norway I think they are Black Metal fellas in corpse paint  two tone.

I never were a big metal fan or death or black-metal.

All I can says about '' Black Metal  is, I like Mayhem Live at Leipzig and also the demo before more Crusty Deathcrush...

I like Sarcofago of Brasilia quite extreme  black-metal and yet so early this is odd , than I like Venom Inc but not Venom.

There is perhaps a couple of bands I like out of zillion existing , than Black Metal not my music, yet I can enjoy good one does...

Even if Classicals music of ancient lore as my ''credo" take most of my time, still had visited a  genre I was not keen to try.I,m less Narrowminded but please anything but no power-metal bands, this I don't know don,t and won't even get, because it's cheezy, king of kill the dragon saved the princess from evil sorcerer, gimme a F8ck*ng break please, you know. So yah this was an essay on  Black Metal some genre , unfamiliar to me that I had visited, whiteout become  absolte fan or scorn it to death,  there is good stuff I guess. But so many interesting music to listen to, I,m more of classical music genre less of Metal in general, but not against...

Black metal tends to be my genre of choice. Not so much the corpse paint sporting church burners, but more the Cascadian or heritage metal bands nowadays. I am less drawn to the shock bands, and more bands like Drudkh, Winterfylleth, Wodensthrone, Uada, Karg, Katavasia, Mgła, Agalloch, et al.

Outside that, it tends to be melodic death like Insomnium and their ilk.

Having said that, we are considering going to see Godsmack tomorrow. Might be fun.
