Achille Longo (Napoli, 28 marzo 1900 – Napoli, 28 maggio 1954)

son of the illustrious musician and well-known piano teacher (as well as director of the Naples Conservatory) Alessandro, was an exponent of the Neapolitan school of the twentieth century.
He composed symphonic music, film music and chamber music. His Trio for piano, violin and cello was, in the 1940s, one of the flagships of the acclaimed Trieste Trio.[1] Having soon left concert playing, he dedicated himself to teaching, journalism and music criticism, as well as teaching composition at the conservatories of Parma [2] and Naples.
His commitment as a teacher was profound. His book published by Ricordi on the harmonization techniques of given songs is renowned.[3] His students include Franco Margola, Bruno Mazzotta, Teresa Procaccini, Francesco de Masi, and Aldo Ciccolini.

He was director of the Naples Conservatory from 1944 until the year of his death.

Thanks, RB.

Do you know if the Trieste Trio ever recorded the piece? It's been a challenge trying to locate any Longo on disc.
