I consider this a great loss

"Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny (47) has died. This was reported by the authorities of the prison where he was confined. Navalny was a fierce critic of President Putin and was sentenced to years in prison. Nothing is yet known about the cause of death."
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

The World sucks nowadays and as the result of this, I have been ultra-cynical for years. That's why my reaction to this news is it was a matter of time. An opposition leader dies in prison in a totalitarian country? Nobody should be surprised.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Of course we are not surprised Poju, but I could not let this pass unnoticed!
Like you I do not have hopes anymore that all will be well in the end, of course it will not. I am not a cynical, but a realist, that is all what it takes, to realize what is going on in this world. It's all downhill from now on, and that fall started a long time ago.

Very sad.  A real hero who knew he was in danger but still stood up to the fascist. He returned to Russia a year after an attempt on his life where he was instantly arrested.  Terribly sad.

Probably inevitable, but a heinous, despicable act nonetheless.

Naturally, Russia has wasted little time assigning responsibility for his murder to the US and western Europe. Putin had nothing to do with it...

Very true, unfortunately.

But there's no such thing as a loyal bullet, and I still hold out a slim hope that there may be a truly patriotic Russian who might get to the scumbag, and do his fellow Russians ( and most of the rest of the world ) a great favor.

Yes Karl, a man with great courage, and he paid the ultimate price. I think of his wife, Son and Daughter too, and all his friends and admirers. A bleak day for Russia and the world.

Not all people in Ukraine had a high opinion of Navalny. He became famous for his statement that Crimea is not a sandwich to be handed back. In any case, he was perceived as a participant in the same show in bad taste as everything Russian.

One can't be sure of anything in this state. Maybe he's sitting somewhere in Thailand laughing at the news.

Navalny positioned himself as a Russian nationalist and anti-corruption warrior, not an advocate of democracy. In line with this he supported what he would consider the return of Crimea to Russia (but not to the Tatars).

Being anti-corruption in Russia counts for much, and nobody's perfect.

He is a martyr now. I thought that President Biden spoke well as did Navalny's widow - a very courageous act. I was pleased to see some brave Russian citizens laying flowers for Navalny at a makeshift memorial in Moscow.
