This 90 minute masterwork is one of the crowning achievements of Gérard Grisey (1946-1998), one of the pioneers in the spectralist movement.

Over 90 minutes, the work begins with a single instrument, a viola, and over six sections gradually grows larger, reaching a climax in the fifth section for full orchestra, "Transitoires."
