Obviously we will be watching this thread very closely, but for now this seems like a "nothing" news story - my understanding is that this is not how the Kennedy Center leadership is chosen. The board members themselves choose the chairman, so he would have to replace all of them with people who promise to elect him. Even then, it is largely an advisory/symbolic job.

So it's likely to be an empty threat or unfulfillable promise. In my opinion not very interesting except for the underlying attitude, which I won't comment on.

The Center's own statement on the matter is posted here.

The Board's membership (as of yesterday, at least), which includes a number of honorary and ex officio members drawn from both sides of aisle, is listed here

The artistic director of the Washington Opera is Francesca Zambello.

She is gay.

I predict Trump will try to get her fired.

Hopefully, I will be wrong.

Well, we all know the incoming chairman (if he gets his way) is a world-renowned authority on opera and the performing arts...

Well that'll bring down the price of eggs.

Isn't Presidenting already a full-time job? (lol, just kidding)

If his ambition is to take all but straight whites out of the performing arts then what will they have left to put on? Unless total destruction, as in so many other cases, is the point.

It would be nice if there were one site on the internet without discussion of Trump. The Kennedy center is a fly on an elephants but.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

The pendulum swings both ways.

I'll lock this topic on the request of several members. We all know the news now, and from here on the discussion will only become political. Thanks for your understanding.
