Is there a website that shows upcoming performances of all operas?

And if not why not?!!

I don't know if this exists for non-operatic music even - seems like an obvious idea?

I'm specifically wondering if there are going to be any staging of Barber's Vanessa in the near future...

You might try Operabase, which is a fantastic resource.  You can search operatic performances all over the world by region, composer, title, singer, etc.

And coincidentally I can answer your second question, since the New York City Opera is doing six performances of Vanessa, starting Nov. 4.  I've forgotten where you're located, but hope you can consider going (if Operabase doesn't have one closer to where you live).

There's www.operabase.com.  It doesn't have everything, and the casting info isn't always up-to-date, but it's a start.

Currently, it lists 6 performances of Vanessa at the New York City Opera in November and two in Gera (wherever that is that's in Germany) in February.

Jinx! Buy each other a coke.

What?!  Are you trying to kill us?  Water or something alcoholic for me, please.  Since we're on the subject of Vanessa, how about "one bottle of Montrachet; two bottles of Romanée-Conti". ;D

I'm in the UK. But I have German family, so maybe I can some how wrangle my way into getting over there at a convenient time.

Thanks for the site!
