I also seem to associate him with Havergal Brian....

Sarge -- Havergal Brian

I won't believe anyone who says otherwise. Not even Sarge!  ;) $:)

You may very well be right about that, Ken. He does seem to be one of the few gung-ho Brian supporters here. :)

So is this thread on personality or what we actually compose? That would help

It's really more of an observational thing I would think. Basically, this is the I've interpreted this thread: over the course x amount of months/years, what composer would you say this or that member has the strongest connection to?

Have I been here long enough for an assessment?

The only person here who I know could give a fair assessment at this point, would be my pal Jessop.

I really cannot say who you've observed or who you haven't and whether you've been here long enough, but this is merely a 'fun' thread. I don't think the intention was to be that of something serious.

My wife and Kimi: Mahler

I don't even know which compose I am supposed to be associated with!

:) I always fancied you a Brucknerian for some reason, Sarge.

You aren't wrong. Wagner, Mahler, Bruckner...my trinity.

How did you guess?

Vanessa is going to Boston again early next year and she wants me and Kimi to go along. I will if health allows. Maybe I can finally meet my hero.

I'm beginning to associate Sorabji with Thatfabulousalien

I'm beginning to see why, while I'm influenced largely by contemporary music and contemporary compositional techniques; I share quite a few obtained practices relating to polyphony, harmony and development etc.
There is a bit of a connection between our personalities too, but I would differentiate myself as a more humoursome person.

I admire his work greatly, even though a large amount has gone unperformed (for two obvious reasons).

Thanks Jessop, it's oddly inspiring  :)

Or he could just mean that you can go on and on and on and on...  ;D

I think your ambitious quirk in your self drive to create complex works that cross between a very traditional classical approach and experimentalism is where I see the link to Sorabji. And you do go on and on, but I like that. :D

Interesting, I admit I probably think a little too much?

Well i don't know, I don't think much at all.......

A friend of mine said he associated me with Martinů and Rafael (ritter) also associated me with this composer, so I'll take it! Guilty as charged. As for a member I might not have mentioned, I associate Madiel with Holmboe. He seems to know so much about the composer that I can't help but think of him as 'the Holmboe guy'. Not that there's anything wrong with it. :)
