Good idea, Harry.

If someone wants these CDs from the Sony Beethoven box (look a few posts above), please send me a PM.

And I am also into two minds about the sonatas in this box, some are real good, others not nearly so, but that needs sorting out. SQ seem to be very good, in the rest of the chambermusic there is unevenness also, but then again I only sampled after the 6th Symphony. This cycle under Zinman was the absolute highlight, including the rest of his Orchestral works.
What your take on this my friend?

Dear Harry

I think most of the chamber and solo music from that box (I havent heard it all so far, but still representative items)  is worth owning and listening to in between. I admit without shame, that it was Zinman´s recordings which caused me to acquire the set. But now I would never part neither with the pianosonatas (well some better than others - maybe the cycle is shared between to many hands - and I even owned some of them beforehand) nor the violin-pianosonatas, the cello-pianosonatas (well, own these in the Bijlsma-box) nor the string quartets, pianoquartets and so on. Oh I don´t mind about the Victory of Wellington, but as far as I remember without consulting the box, the other items on that CD are fine.

Dear generous Harry: Have you ever thought of opening an account at amazon marketplace? It's a very uncomplicated way of disposing of your surplus CDs and DVDs; amazon will do most of your recordkeeping and money transactions - and you can donate your profit to Amnesty International, Doctors without Borders, or use it to buy new stuff!

In a short time I have considerably reduced my collection of unwanted recordings, bought new discs, and helped music lovers all over the world buying recordings at a very low price.  :)

Lis, thank you for your kind words. You see the hassle with amazon is beyond my understanding being the digibeet I am, and secondly I don't need the money, and thirdly I wanted it to go to people that I know, well at least a bit.
I tried not long ago to open a account with Amazon, and instead found my personal Waterloo. ;D

Thanks Harry!

I will keep an eager eye out for those parcels.

Once I've spent some time with these recordings I'll report back my findings/thoughts.

Thanks again.  :)

I just saw this, as I've been lurking recently....I'm a taker!  ;D

My collection is still so small, I would certainly be interested. In anything really. I will be keeping a watch...
