LAST CHANCE to sample / download the old DG Edouard Lindenberg disc of orchestral chestnuts on Rolf von Otter's site.

The Liszt 2nd hungarian rhapsody is usually heard in blowsy, elephantine renditions. Here it's sparkling, bubbly, full of verve and piquant orchestral colours. A revelation!

The page will change saturday, October 6.

OK, I'm going through all the new stuff right now, and I have some questions... 0:) (Or actually, it's one question repeated many times... ;D)

I'm guessing the answer will be "they're all video" but I'd just like to ask, to be on the safe side...

The CEAMC Quintet disc, and the Gandini sonatas are in just audio. The rest are videos.

Do you know why is it that I'm not receiving email notifications when someone writes in a thread I have a subscription?

Rob is working on it. Apparently no one is getting them. The why has to do with problems with the Forum.

Thanks.

I think the problem with notifications (as well as the frequent crashes lately) has to do with some sort of server upgrade that Rob is making... He should also be updating the forum software this month, so we're in for a lot of fun. ;D

Somewhere in this thread there's a download of Bach's Partita 2 for violin orchestrated by Edison Denisov. The last movement (the great Chaconne) is cut after only 49 seconds.  Musical coïtus interruptus!  Talk about a bummer!   :P

Does anyone know where I can get that movement whole? Please !!

I can upload it in a couple of hours. In the meantime, you can download the Henze file, for more messing-up-with-baroques.

Completed the European Concert from 2001. I don't have more.concerts from this series.

Thanks again, Manuel. You've filled a lot of holes in my collection.

I should thank you. It's only because you asked about the BPO concerts that I started looking more carefully for them. Otherwise, I would have never found the concerts from 1994, 1995 and 2001.

EDIT: I just found the one from 1993.

That's an excellent one. I have the DVD, but it's defective. It freezes up midway through the Scherzo of the Eroica, on all machines.

:-*

I had it burned to disc with a BIS program of Denisov works : 2-violas and harpsichord concerto, viola and harpsichord chamber music, Epitaph and the orchestral variations on the Bach choral Es ist genug, among other things. The presence of the harpsichord and the choral variations made a neat connection with that Partita transcription, and a nice, full 75 minutes all-Denisov program.

I'll check the Henze and see where I could fit it. What is it anyway, and where can I find it?

A 30 minute work for violin and chamber orchestra, messing up with the famous Chaconne by Tomasso Vitali.

Santa Pizza, such memory! Or should I say filing system?  :D

I've downloaded it, will find it a companion. ;)
