Thanks to Walt Whitman for alerting me to the Bach Guild downloads.  I'm delighted to have access to performances of Haydn from the time of Woldike, Janigro, Blum et al; to Griller Quartet Mozart; to Lily Kraus' Schubert; and to a multitude of others.
Just one quibble: Bach's Cantata 170, intriguingly performed by Alfred Deller, is missing its final aria.

Well, Deller is indeed hit or miss.

BTW welcome to the forum!

JPC has this wonderful set of New Year's performances. They do not repeat, but select one version of pieces that repeat. So it does not exactly replace the yearly concerts, but I actually prefer it (all 23 discs worth). Wonderful performances. Good price at EUR 39.99.

Be kind to your fellow posters!!

That's a great price and a great collection including many pieces played only once or twice at these concerts. I'd be seriously tempted if I did not have at least a dozen discs with Neujahrskonzerte (including the unavoidable repeats) already.

For out-of-the ordinary repertoire, half their regular price but not our bargain basement goal, happens for a short time once a year:

I came close to buying it, but 25 Euros for shipping?! changed my mind.

I ended up paying EUR 16 for shipping but it was still worth it.  Unfortunately, the bargain price is gone, as its now EUR 94.

Got a few nice items from amazon.fr's 3 for 15€ and 4 for 18€ sales - but somehow it seems you're only allowed to use each code once although it doesn't say so anywhere, I think ... would have ordered more otherwise ...

The Bruckner box by Dennis Russell Davies or the Footsteps of Petrus Alamire sets are amongst the biggest bargains I suppose. The sale encompasses some other boxes that I either already had or did never consider. The selection for both sales seems to be identical:

Myron:

Many thanks for the Abbado tip-off.  I suppose postage will be more for we Brits after Brexit......current postage was only 4.75 euros - and it came in time for Christmas!

Seasons greetings to all.

Naxos Direct UK have a very nice Boxing Day sale of 50 items @ £5 a piece :) Blu-rays make up the bulk of the offer (most are from the Tutto Verdi collection) and there are a handful of Sharon Bezaly & Freddy Kempf SACDs - https://naxosdirect.co.uk/campaigns/boxing-day--3031

Shipping is free, but they only deliver to UK addresses - I don't think Naxosdirect.com or Naxosdirekt.de have the promotion on  :'(

Note that JPC have the individual multi-disc Tutto Verdi volumes for 49.99 euros each https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/Giuseppe-Verdi-1813-1901-Tutto-Verdi-Die-Opern-aus-den-Jahren-1839-1846-BR/hnum/3083693 for the true completists amongst us  8)

From the excellent Alpha label, this nice compendium of baroque favourites - and not so well-known works. Currently sells at less than 32$ (18 discs) at Amazon.com:

NB: check the Presto classical site for sound samples.

Thanks, Harry !

I put 4 in my cart, although I give priority to my Amazon purchases right now, so it could take a few weeks before I hit the « purchase » button. It's like a lottery: you never know which ones will go up in price and be discarded as a result.

From discophage's blog , the 29 CD set of King's Choir recordings for Argo (via Decca  :)) for 22 euros at Amazon Italia -

Ha! Same tactics here, + plus the knowledge that in every two or three weeks JPC shipping will be free (to the Netherlands) for a couple of days.  ;)

I put Marcel Dupré's Kreuzweg in my cart. It is played here with the narration of the Paul Claudel poems interspersed between the 12 Stations of the Cross. Unfortunately, it is recited in German  :( . The French original is very hard to find and mucho expensivo to boot. This is strange: there's half a dozen versions of this work with the narration spoken in German. I guess the Germans like that work more than the French ! It's like listening to Schiller or Heine in a foreign language. Something is lost in translation...

Trivia: Paul Claudel was a french diplomat and a very influential writer. He took Milhaud as his secretary in Brazil (hence the composer's brazilian period), and is the author of the poems for Honegger's Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher and La danse des morts. His sister Camille was a renowned sculptor and  Auguste Rodin's mistress. Her harrowing story is the subject of a beautiful film starring Isabelle Adjani...  :-*

Some good bargains:

- on Amazon (US, UK, etc): 18$ or <15£

The whole project took 7 cds, IIRC. I have 3 of them, so will pass. Reluctantly.

- on JPC: this set of choral works by Mendelssohn goes for 50€ (14 discs):
