JPC is having eine grosse ICON Preisaktion sale. Not exactly bargain basement prices, but some fine bargains nonetheless..

Also at JPC, some intriguing issues on the NCA label:

$147.  fallen about 1/3 in price lately.  Not a favorite at GMG, I think, but I like him a lot and would like to have this...but still waiting for it to get to super-DUPER cheap.

Not a favorite probably because he is rather over-exposed and around here rarity is concomitant with quality. Also unless one has been living under a rock for the past 30-40 yrs one almost runs into 2 dozen or so Perlman recordings by accident.

I'd like to see your music collection! ;D I have a hell of a lot of the big boxes, but except for in the Yo Yo Ma giant one, not much Perlman.

Anyway, good specials from Amazon DE.  Once they subtract VAT, the new Kubelik is 89 Eur, The new Bernstein (Edition--Columbia, Vocal Works) 80 Eur, and Harnouncourt Complete Sony (65CD) is 76 EUR.  I guess that's about $1.50 per disk, although they sting you pretty hard for shipping...

The new Bernstein vocal is definitely a deal...   :P

Well I don't have as much as others here but safe to say 3 or 4 floor to ceiling shelves plus piles of cds stacking 7 ft high I can lay claim to LOL !

Most of these big boxes with these mega-star conductors I likely have at least 60-70% of the recordings so I am not even going to try to acquire them. Lenny for example I probably have over 90% of his SONY and DG recordings including an almost complete Royal Edition with those awful cover arts.

At JPC, 2 sets of recordings on the Piano Classics label featuring Sergio Fiorentino. The one recorded at the Siemens Villa in 1995-96 is a must IMHO

11.99€ for 10 cds

That is indeed a mandatory box! Go get it, folks!

Thirded on the Fiorentino!

(But I found the red one with early recordings quite a bit of a let-down ... maybe that's just me though).

Can't say as I feel the same. I have three discs of early Fiorentino from the original APR's (all Liszt). Stunners, all.
Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Done. This had been on my list for a while. Looks like the time and price were right. Thanks, André!

André

From this rare and very expensive box

JPC is proposing 8 recordings for 1.99€:

The Oistrakh and Sanderling are mandatory purchases !

Caveat: JPC advertises the Sanderling disc as containing the 5th symphony by Shostakovich. It's the 15th that's on it (even better!).

Jpc seems to be up and running again, and has a great Pentatone sale just now, i.e. surround SACDs sometimes drawn from the Philips and DG Quad recordings from the early '70s and sometimes their own more recent recordings. The price is €6 (sometimes even for double SACDs) and their quality is famous:

Amazon in Spain are currently again offering the Discotheque Ideale de L'Opera set at just €26 for 25 operas/56 CDs.
It's essentially Sony material from RCA & CBS, from the 50s up to the end of the century. Some standard - and excellent - recordings of Verdi, Puccini, etc with top casts, but also rep which is less frequently anthologised, such as Vanessa, Akhenaten, La Donna del Lago and Die Tote Stadt.
(International postage appears reasonable, at least to the UK - at under €5.)

At JPC, many historic and moden issues of rare material, mostly english music, on the SOMM label: Sibelius by Boult, Vaughan-Williams 5 and Dona nobis pacem by the composer, string qts by John Joubert, piano concertos by William Mathias...

https://www.jpc.de/s/SOMM-Raritäten+limitiert+preiswert?searchtype=campaigntext

7,99€ each (6.71€ Ex-VAT). I'll probably go for a couple of those (Sibelius and Mathias).

Not quite super duper bargains, but interesting stuff at a low price from the Capriccio label, on sale at JPC:

I am glad you took over the see these deals Andre, I miss the motivation these days,.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.
