Thanks, Antoine, I see, that I already own almost all the items, which might have caught my interest.

I have thought to cancel my pre-order on Amazon. I just have about the 40% of those discs, but if I am totally honest, probably those Gamba Sonatas by Bylsma/Asperen would be the only item that I would order separately.

Same here.  I already have what I would consider the gems of the collection.  I wonder who buys these scattershot collections (like this, or the DG 111, or the RCA Living Stereo sets).  Anyone who likes the stuff already has it.

That's not impossible. For instance, I bought the Haydn big box on Brilliant when I already had 30 or so discs included there (the complete piano sonatas, the complete piano trios, several string quartets and so).

The only big boxes I go for are "complete 'X' of composer 'Y'".  Maybe a collection of recordings from an artist (for instance, the Ansermet Stravinsky Edition, the Samson Francois edition, etc, some of those DG Original Masters editions).  I don't have the loyalty to a record label to want an anthology of their recordings.

Now I understand better your point... I bought the anniversary boxes of DHM, HM & Chandos; I owned a fair amount of the recordings included in every of those boxes, but their attractive was stronger than me... CDCDCD...  ;D

As to me it is 27%. There are no others I would order separately.

BTW that Bijlsma / van Asperen CD is special (with organ), even if Bijlsma plays a violoncello piccolo and not a gambe.

A measly but happy 10% for me! :D Quite a few of those discs have been on my wish list for many months.

I have 28 out of 60. :-\

I have actually bought a couple of big boxes at a great price in order to get 2 or 3 disks that actually cost more than the big box if bought separately. :)

It's great box set, indeed. Just the discs with Bylsma among the personnel would pay the entire set.

For the DG111 box I considered the idea of getting it, then selling off all of the individual discs, which probably would have more than covered the cost.  But do I have that much time on my hands?   I did get the Karajan Symphony Edition from DG and made back twice the cost by selling my rare single-disc editions of Karajan/Bruckner (available back in the 1980's).

Amazon.fr lists the box for 72 Euro´s. One individual Vivarte CD ordered separately costs from 10 -  12 Euro´s.  So you must be interested in at least 8 of the items in the box, if the aquisition of the box shall pay. Another reason to get the box may be, that some of the items you want from the box are difficult to get hold of at all.

I don't plan on ordering anything from mainland Europe for the time being. I'll probably wait for Amazon US to "accidentally" drop its price to truly SDCB status. ;D

Eight sounds about right. Even if doesn't, I wouldn't mind getting the rest as the first (of possibly many) versions of many of the pieces listed there. :)

I still regret not buying the Horowitz box set (Jacket Collection), when JPC offered it for EUR 99.  :'( (I just have 20 of those discs)

As a mere 21-year-old whose "catalog" comprises tons of newish CDs and scattershot older recordings recommended by GMG, or owned by my parents, I would gladly purchase the Vivarte set (likely own 0%), the RCA Living Stereo set (about 10%), the Bernstein Symphony Edition (about 15%), or a purely hypothetical future RCA Ormandy Original Jacket Collection - if they were ever in my price range or if they were still commercially available when I landed a salaried job. Given that I won't be on salary 'til September, and that the Bernstein Symphony Edition released only 3 months ago is already Deep OOP, the odds aren't looking good. :(

Are you completely sure, that you would not have regretted it even more, if you actually had purchased that box? I on my part would neither have the space for storing it nor the time to listen to it.

I have never regretted to own a disc. I am an optimist by nature, I hope a long old age to listen to music endlessly and to re-read some loved books.

BTW, to re-watch some stupid movies from the eighties is into the plan, too; exempli gratia: Can't Buy my Love, Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and so.  ;D

Also I am optimist by nature - and completist, but I have realised that even a completist can not own everything.

Or maybe you simply don't like Horowitz.  ;)
