As I understand it,  there are no duplications of recordings between the two sets (Lorreggian was not the only performer on the Tactus).

To be completely explicit:

Loreggian´s only contribution to the Tactus set is the eleven Canzoni alla Francese from 1645 (lasting a little more than half an hour all in all).

Being the only keyboard artist on the Brilliant set, Lorregian plays these Canzoni on the Brilliant set too, but it is a different (and later) recording.

Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

On the box, I even noticed the line "With the patronage of PROVINCIA DI PADOVA" suggesting the set was actually an original recording and not licensed materials from some previously released recordings of other labels ...

For me, the SQ and syms boxes have arrived but the concertos one hasn't.

Did your order show up? None of my boxes have arrived (I ordered all 3). I've emailed the seller but to date have had no respobse.

Nope, the concertos box hasn't shown. I'm not going to be so cheeky as to ask for a refund given that I got two of them, so I can't report the response time (or lack of it) to emails.

With regard to the Haydn box sets, I've literally just received an email from Amazon informing me of the cancellation of my order. This is part of the message:

Dear Customer,

Greetings from Amazon.co.uk.

We are writing to confirm that we are processing your refund in the amount of £13.02 for your Order 203-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx from gzoop.

This amount has been credited to your payment method and will appear when your bank has processed it.

This refund is for the following item(s):

   Item: Haydn: Complete String Quartets
   Quantity: 1
   ASIN: B001GVA7DW
   Reason for refund: Order cancelled

The following is the breakdown of your refund for this item:

       Item Refund: £3.08
       Shipping Refund: £1.26

This is particularly annoying, as I had actually received emails informing me that the item had shipped. So, was the shipping email just an automated response? Why wait till now to inform me that the order is cancelled?     ???

Best Wishes
David

The e-mail advising you that it had shipped might be a gaffe on the part of the third-party seller. Annoying, to be sure.

I received the same refund e-mail earlier today (after having been informed that the boxes had shipped earlier in the month >:( )

I sometimes sell through Amazon.co.uk  - you can't transfer the proceeds of a sale into your bank account until you've sent a dispatch notification to the buyer. I'm noticing a worrying trend of unscrupulous sellers 'dispatching' orders as soon as they're made simply to bank the funds as soon as possible, regardless of whether the item has been sent or not.

I suppose we should be happy that at least one GMGer received the bargain boxes (and any onlookers who felt that they may have missed out can be consoled that they might not have got the sets anyway  :)).

As with any of these Amazon Marketplace 'mispricings', if you don't place the order then you will never profit from the sellers ignorance of classical music discover if the 'bargain' is genuine or not :D

Not a bargain as such, but a useful tool to compare prices across different Amazon sites.  The service detects your country and factors in shipping costs (this can be changed manually).  The cheapest price for each of Amazon, MP New and MP Used is displayed.  It works well with the ASIN as a search term.

I am still boggling at this.

I placed the order at Amazon US on 26th November. £8 English money, plus £4 postage. They said it might take a week or two to get one. I expected that at least they'd send it surface mail. No. They emailed me to say they were shipping it sooner than they thought. It arrived at home this morning in the UK, 30th November. £12 altogether, including postage (with tracking), for a box of 12 CDs, taking a mere 4 days from start to finish, for an order placed at Amazon US for delivery to the UK.

I bought this one as well - listening to it just now - great find.

I mentioned Pricenoia earlier - it shows that this set (for purchase/shipping to the US) ranges in price from $10.45 from Amazon to $114.01 from Amazon in Germany.

Thanks. I've been looking for something like this for a while. It would be great if someone would customise it for classical music bargain hunters by including all the usual suspects. :)

Well then - here's another one. I use it mostly for the UPC code, but you can use it for pricing as well: http://www.getcdprices.com/

Great, thanks. But again, one still looks for Presto, JPC, MDT, fnac, Abeille etc. in the list of available stores. :)

... and now to enjoy this difficult, erudite, hypnotic, but totally enjoyable music. I have an unusual recommendation for you: the "Messa della Madonna" (part of the Fiori Musicali), especially the wonderful "Recercare con obligo di cantare la quinta parte senza tocarla"...

My set arrived equally fast.  The price was a $12.06 with free shipping.  I already have the set on BC ...

Thanks Antoine - noted. I shall start there. (I haven't had time to do more than admire the box and booklet so far.)

I have this box as well but haven't opened it. Combined with the recently aquired Complete Scarlatti by Scott Ross (there was a good price on amazon.es) it seems like there will be a lot of harpsichord tinkling in my cellar (the first Scott disc was simply wonderful though).

You're welcome. I have and have listened to almost all those discs. I don't say all of them because I bought them separately, but just the discs by Sergio Vartolo.

Unfortunately, I bought some discs (among them the big Bach boxes of Janssen and Hewitt) on Amazon.es more than a month ago, but I am still waiting for them.  :(

Has anyone been noticing higher prices on some items at Amazon? The Elgar collection on EMI is up to 42.78 from 36.10 for example. Holiday pricing?
