I must confess I hadn't previously heard of JPC, so thanks to all on this thread for alerting me.  Another fine bargain there is the 10-disc set of the old Decca recordings of the masses and oratorios for €22.99: http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/Joseph-Haydn-1732-1809-Die-gro%DFen-geistlichen-Werke/hnum/3537193

You're telling me... with sterling where it is, the Haydn Trios could be mine, including delivery, for GBP12.56.  How can I not?

If you missed it in late July, the Membran Meisterkonzerte box set is again available on Amazon .uk, .it, .de, .fr for 28.99.  Just ordered a copy for myself.

I'm all over that like white on rice. Vaclav Talich!

A unique opportunity to get the actual complete Weil Haydn masses recordings on a Benelux/Dutch-only issue, which has five discs instead of the four of the regular issue that excludes some smaller works. I thought it had vanished...but there it is.

And... only €8! :o

This advice should be seriously considered, guys. This is a one time in life opportunity. That's a wonderful set, previously -to my knowledge- just available in The Netherlands.

BTW, Que, I have known for a long time this box set offered on JPC:

[asin]B0000042DO[/asin]

... but I thought that it only included modern instrument versions of the oratorios and masses. That's the reason why I was never interested. But after I purchased the box of the complete masses on Decca, I was aware that this box includes all the masses recorded by Simon Preston and the AAM; so it's a real bargain, even including several discs on modern instruments.  :)

Wow! Thank you Que for alerting me to this bargain. I just ordered it!   £12 including shipping to the UK for 10 CDs was too good to pass up! I really have been enjoying Haydns' symphonies off the Brilliant label (Fischer) and would like to explore more of his works.

Fortunately they were included in the 150 CD Haydn box which I bought at around 30 Euros at a sale at abeillemusic. Now THAT is what I call a bargain!

Right: we had to get up in t'morning at 9.30 at night, go down to t'local CD shop, buy the collected works of everyone for tuppence ha'penny, and when we got home our Dad would beat us to death with a 1,500 CD box of the complete masses of Palestrina.

There's only 104 of them (according to Gustave Reese) and I've always longed for a complete edition.  :D

Anyone know anything about the Newton box of Gesualdo madrigals? 1965 recordings, which is worrying.

Grigorian is a Canadian site. They also have two brick&mortar. Sometimes really good deals. http://grigorian.com/webstore/main.php
Good place to get Canada-only issues, which are sometimes bargain boxes.
Nice stores too.

On JPC Germany this set of 10 CD'S will set you back for as little as 10 euro's. I have listen through the samples, and its a question of hit and run really. Some thing sound good, some not, but considering the price a good deal anyway.

I'm not sure it would be a project upon which any accountant would look kindly, although I agree it would be good to have some recordings of the early ones, to explore Palestrina's debt to Morales, Josquin et al, rather than just more Papae Marcellis.

Aargh, the usual problem when considering bargains - the worry that an even better one will come along later.

+1. But damn the accountants.
