The new erato

Well, the last abeille sale was a great disappointment........

stingo

Anyone know offhand if the Shostakovich above is a repackaging of their (Brilliant's) red box edition, or are there additional recordings included?

It's been my biggest CD haul, so far. 50 discs in all!

27 discs earlier to 51 now. Much of the content is still a mystery, with regard to performers.

There's a track listing - but no performer information - at http://www.brilliantclassics.com/release.aspx?id=FM00424463

The reference to a number of historical recordings suggests that there will be a bit of duplication with the Historical Russian Archives series.

Thanks, but I'll wait until February. ;)

Do you expect a sharp appreciation of the Rupee against the Euro in the New Year?     ;D

Ha! If I'd such accurate, far-seeing vision on the states of currencies, I'd actually be rich enough that appreciation by a few percent wouldn't matter. ;D

Scarpia

12 discs for as low as $20, apparently the new 2008 remaster that is reported to be far superior to the previous editions.

Complete track listing, including timings (missing in CD 49, though) and performers' names, courtesy Abeille Musique.

The link was likely sitting there, near the bottom of the page, all along.

Gustav Leonhard Plays Bach - $12.78 at i-Deals Store. Even with international postage added, this is a very good deal.

Slightly costlier at Amazon UK marketplace, but postage is slightly cheaper. So it balances out, more or less.

Ugghgh! Why does that deal have to be on right as I'm moving?? My giant harmonia mundi order from last week is already set to arrive at my old address after I've left it. :(

Why bother, when you're not going to buy any more at least until next summer? 0:) ;)

Sweet; many thanks, Nav! Even allowing for two of the discs being duplicates from another box, this is an astounding deal.

You're welcome, Karl. Yes, it duplicates the Goldbergs and the disc of organ music from the Jubilee set, but the AoF!, dWTK! and the sonatas with Kuijken! are more than enough to seal the deal for someone without those recordings.

Besides, I can give my brother the redundant CDs : )

Ordered it.  The Goldbergs and the organ works are part of the 15 CD set I already have (and as usual have not yet heard a note of), so I wouldn't given them away even if I had a brother.  But I don't.

Yo-Yo Ma: 30 Years Outside The Box

EUR 111,32

Update: My box has now arrived and seems to be identical to the one sold on amazon.com for a much heftier fee. The box is heavy, but this is mainly because of the weight of the accompanying book, which reproduces in readable print on glossy paper all the original album notes, it would appear.  Amazon.it did not charge me for postage at all, and also stripped off the VAT, though the Swiss Post charged me for that. In all this purchase came out at under 100 Euros. Reviews on UK, US and IT amazon sites all very positive. amazon.de also has a low price. TC.
