I have it, mostly to fill in some gaps in my Schumann collection (of course I've got multiple versions of the biggies). As to actually listening to it, however....

I have this one
[asin]B004D3BPHW[/asin]
which I'm currently going through.
In the well known works, there's always a better performance available elsewhere, but for the lesser known works, it's good to have.

ETA: the listing on the cover of participating pianists is solely alphabetical;  Wurtz is the one whose recordings contributed most to this set.  Brautigam and the others mostly have one CD each.

I'm not sure if anyone's (anyone in GMG, that is) even bought it yet. I remember some mixed reactions to some of it (from Antoine Shumway, I think) when it was featured in these pages before.

Yes, I purchased all the separate volumes (including the chamber music), but I invariably felt Le Sage's interpretations as a bit Cartesian and over-conscious... IMO, Schumann should be played as if the performer hadn't totally understood what the composer is saying; slightly in bewilderment. It's weird, but that's what I think/feel.  :)

As it has been said several times on this board, this set is mandatory too:

Yes the Jorg Demus box is mandatory, without any doubt.

I'm a little less enthusiastic.  Although I do consider the performances close to top-flight, the sound bothers me some.  It's a boxed-in sound where the top notes don't ring out and bass notes/chords are rather murky.

Apparently, I've grown used to this sound quality; last times, I've hardly noticed it.

BTW, Don, do you have some general opinion on Vorraber? You have been some of the very few music critics on the web reviewing some disc by him.

The sound on Demus bothered me too. Useful as a second or third set I think. Ashkenazy is great as usual and I got it cheap.

I like the Weil Haydn.

If you get any wiser, tell.

It's weird in the sense that it's unconventional. The more the products cost, regardless of the number of items, the more you pay. At the check-out page I saw a grand total of 20 Euros and 7 cents.

I have the exact same grand total. That's US $26.23. I have never, ever heard a single Clifford Curzon recording of anything, but that sounds worthwhile?

Curzon is very worthwhile. His Mozart concerti with Kertesz and Britten are reference.

I'm only familiar with Vorraber's Schumann recordings.  I think he's interesting, rather stark and unpredictable.  Although that works well with Schumann, I wouldn't put Vorraber among the best Schumann pianists.

The reason that the sound for Demus sticks in my mind is based on some recording surveys I did of a few Schumann piano works a few years ago.  Included in the surveys were recordings by folks like Horowitz, Giesking and Cortot.  I'd be listening to Demus and thinking that his sound wasn't a major improvement over those historical recordings.

Agreed - I bought the four (I think) smaller boxes a few years ago - the Mozart superb.  Sounds is generally v good for the era.

Ordered! I think it's worth breaking my general New Year's Resolution to stop buying CDs, to buy 24 in some cases reference-quality CDs for $26.

Especially when Amazon's price is $81:

Uh-oh! I did not get any email acknowledgment either, and my credit card has been billed US $2.60, which is about one-tenth of the actual cost of the box set. I was able to successfully log in to Clic Musique, but it says I haven't placed any orders on the website.  :o
