. . . that Beethoven/Tokyo String Quartet budget box that was posted on this thread a few days ago.

A genuine temptation, Jeffrey . . . but I resisted.

You're a better man than I, Gunga Din.

(That also of course applies to the Arkivmusic sale.)

Anybody find anything good in the Abeille Musique Soldes? So far the only really noteworthy bargain I've uncovered is Marco Polo CDs for roughly US $8.60.

No, a total bust.

Tangentially, I've been ordering from I-Deal through Amazon MP, and they seem to be operating normally.
Most recent order is now in the mail to me; that Beethoven/Tokyo String Quartet budget box that was posted on this thread a few days ago.

Didn't one of our members order a massive number of orders at $1 each?        ;D

When I lived in England, a UK third-party seller did a sale of tons and tons of Naxos CDs for, I think, 0.01 each. But they weren't new, they were used, and paying shipping for each individual CD made them all cost about $3 each in reality.

Naxos themselves once mispriced items in their Naxos Direct store; I was able to buy six 25-CD box sets for $2.99 each.

More than one member did this and while some received their orders, other orders were canceled.

Just a heads-up: you may want to check Abeille's sale again; I noticed a few further deductions (e.g. Hyperion, from 55% to 65%).

Looks like the Mahler/Chailly set dropped in price at both UK and ES. It's still available for 20 Pounds at UK.

There is some improvement. I was actually considering a purchase if I can find enough.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Dutton is having their January clearance sale, a lot of stuff for around $5-6. Any hot tips? I've heard pretty much nothing Dutton has ever recorded, but two viola recitals and Goossens conducts Antill have my vague interest.

Re: Dutton, I don't know if you already know these items:
1. Beethoven/Busch late string quartets (and Razumovskies) (4 vols.) sounds really good to me, all things considered; I love those performances.
2. I just recently got a Mozart MAGIC FLUTE conducted by Beecham, which I really liked a lot on first spin, and the mono sound is terrific.  (This last one is fetching insane prices via Amazon MP, no idea how I got it so cheap; I wonder if Dutton still sells it?)
3. Also liked two Mahlers by Bruno Walter, the ~1937 (?) LIED and the famous ~1938 #9 in Vienna; both sounded terrific.

Sara (Lethe) turned me on to this one

It doesn't seem to actually be part of the clearance sale, but it's a 2 CD set (it's a Naxos type box set, btw--originaly jewel cases and covers in a cardboard sleeve) but the current quote is $12.80 US, which isn't very much out of the prince range you mentioned per CD.

Isn't FabulousCD on Amazon the same seller as Abeille?

Yes.  The only time I looked at Abeille sale and started compiling an order the postage charge (to the UK) was way out of proportion.

No postage for 16 items or more. I managed to put up a list of 16 items last year; but a couple of days after placing the order I was informed that they wouldn't be able to send one of the boxes as they had no stock left, yet the offer of free postage was honoured.

Being able to sell you 15 items is better than being able to sell you nothing if they push the envelope too far in insisting on charging you postage on 15 items ...

Barbirolli, Mahler 1 (definitely), Sibelius quasi-cycle
