This finally moved into the "dispatched" column today.  Delivery estimate is given (over optimistically?) for Thursday 25 April.

I'm sure it's on the way.  I'm just cautious about the delivery date:  one week is unusually swift in my experience for transatlantic mail.   I only remember that speed twice, once from Amazon France and once from an Amazon MP vendor located in Austria.  Ten days to two weeks is more normal, and in some cases up to a full month.   Amazon UK seems to fall into the two weeks category; Prestoclassical into the ten days....

I didn't need to be so cautious.  The Sinopoli box arrived today,  only one day past Amazon UK's delivery estimate and a full week or so before I expected it.
Side note to Karl: it does contain that Watanabe recording of the Berg VC.

I'm sad that I didn't see this in time to get it for a good price, but I'm kind of glad I won't have to stare at the CD cover.  It seems a little creepy to me with the giant conductor attacking the little ones.   Not exactly a 1950s Atlas Comics monster splash page, but still...

Thanks for that chuckle!

The 19cd Hogwood Mozart symphony set can be had from Am.uk for £27.97. The ASIN is B0041KU1OK. Maybe not quite 'super-duper' but, as far as I am aware, considerably cheaper than hitherto.

I meant to check its price when the Haydn fell by about £12, a few days ago. Looks like it happened more or less at the same time.

Actually the price has gone up quite a bit.  I got it for 22 Euro from amazon.it a few weeks ago.  It's probably worth patrolling the various amazon sites to take advantage of price fluctuations.

For those in N. America, hidden amidst a huge restock of familiar Hyperion titles at BRO is this:

Byrd complete keyboard music by Davitt Moroney (Hyperion, 7cd)

for ~$28 before shipping.  This is ~$11 less than I paid for it and the cheapest I've seen it; a better deal than even BRO's usual really good Hyperion prices.

A diverse array of period instruments; exceptionally well recorded; and extensive, substantial notes from Moroney.

They had a number of other good sets - Bantock, Schubert song set, and Brahms Chamber works. But the Byrd has been recommended many times here, so I think you will enjoy it.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

By the time I spotted this, they were out of stock but hadn't yet put the price up. So I ordered one just in case ... and glory be, it arrived today. Thanks Nav.

Well I've never spent very much time with Gustav, actually; and this box (by all accounts a cracker) seemed like a very painless way of getting to know him better. This sort of experiment usually turns out well, I've found.

A genuine super-duper cheap bargain and a fine all-around set, good enough to get you hooked on Gus!

That is a very good set. Bertini was an underrated conductor.

I looked it up in Gramophone, after the fact - not to grant them the final say, but just to see. They give it their maximum three-disc rating: 'there's no better Mahler deal on the planet', they conclude (at its normal price, presumably). That's a good start, anyway.

For those okay with MP3 downloads, the Naxos 9-disc box set of every Prokofiev symphony and concerto is now US $23.99.

It's curious because it looks exactly as the old DHM 50th Anniversary box, released in 2008 and currently OOP.

But the 2008 release was a 50-CD set and this new set indicates 25 CDs:

How marvelous if there is little or no overlap with the DHM/Sony boxes reissued thus far!  (Which iic have contained a number of discs previously included in that big DHM 50-disc set.)
