I'm not sure my post even reached the board before the price returned to normal (due to forum moderation).

This does seem to be a title subject to significant Amazon price volatilty....

I think there may be an exception if it is a newly-registered user's first post.

Yeah, I think that is definitely possible. But knowing the people we have on GMG, it's also possible that the first person to read your post went and bought the last copy.

No, I think that's not right. Actually, the first post of a new member is revised by a moderator and just then it appears on the board.

For those who bought the recent RCO Anthology boxes, I guess this is why they were reduced, but based on the pre-order price you'll be glad you did...

Yes, you're right, it's a bet. You never know.

I recall 4 or 6 months ago, its price was around $350 on Amazon.

Decisions, decisions.  :)

My Yo Yo Ma box just arrived in the mail.  According to my "number", only about half of the 7K of this (original?)pressing has been sold, so the price may very well come down even further.
    Two comments.
In my opinion, it is an extremely solid and well made (and attractive, although unfortunately big) box. It even comes with it's own custom designed 3-ply box and foam "protective insert".  The included book is large, heavy and all color (on glossy paper). It would be a $40 book on its own (not that it would be of any value divorced from the set).
Second, for people living outside of the US, importCD is an insanely good company. This box must weigh 20 pounds, and it was shipped to me via DHL for just a few dollars.  I think they must be doing something like Amazon sometimes does, shipping at a loss in order to build their customer base. (Amazon, BTW, charges over $40 to ship the same box, and they are usually cheaper than others).
It's all good...

My friend received her Yo-Yo Ma box last week and she loved it. After choosing three discs at random to play, she set it out for display on her mantel. I think her certificate was numbered in the upper 4k area.

Maybe not a Super Duper Cheap Bargain, but ImportCDs is having a 10% off site-wide sale through the Nov 26th.

Yeah, mines 4041 out of 7K. Considering the set came out 4 years ago, that is not very impressive sales--unless it's flying off the shelves now, I'd expect the price to fall to under $100.  The more I listen, the more impressed I am.  Terrific breadth and top notch recordings, and unlike so many boxes, there are virtually no repeats.

Thanks, Baklavaboy! Very interesting information.

I will maybe try importCD this time.  :)

It looks like the Yo-Yo Ma box is selling for around $120 + S&H at importcds. It's also the last day for their 10% off storewide sale.

At EUR 12.99*, this 10-disc set of organ music looks interesting, several machines I've never encountered before and some duos on an organ in Madrid

Deep Discount have 15% off site-wide. THis on top of the sale they have on some items may lead to some good prices on items already on sale (but not everything, so double check).

Is the extra 15% 'built in' to the 'Black Friday' sale prices?  I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a coupon for that extra 15% off.  I've done some trawling but not found any exceptional deals.
I had the same problem with their most recent (this month) '25% off', which did not seem near as generous as previous such sales.  Inconsistent discounts on CPO and Brilliant, for example.
I think maybe DD and Importcds (and Moviemars?) are owned by the same company, but I cannot remember where I read this....a response to an email, perhaps.

Actually, just to save others some of the time I have wasted, slightly good deals can be found at Deepdiscount for:
Bach organ works, Marie-Claire Alain II (Warner): $27.63
Serebrier's Glazunov orchestral box (Warner)  $27.46
Maria Lettberg's solo Scriabin box: $20
'Choral Works of Krysyztof Penderecki' (Naxos rush box)  $17.65

These almost at random!  I finally became exhausted, checking things I didn't own but wanted, and gave up.  I need to just skip these 'sales'....

The Yo-Yo Ma big box is being sold for $100 during Arkiv Music's (USA) weekend sale, through Sunday midnight.  I think that price is the lowest I've seen.
I'm really thinking about it, though there were quite a few discs that did not sound interesting to me, and I am already drowning in megaboxes.
