I've seen this sort of stuff from importcds before. Notice you cannot place an order. By the time you can that won't be the price.

Just orderered from ImportCDs Amazon storefront the Jarvi Gothenburg Nielsen cycle for $5.96 including s/h.  There is at least one other copy at the same price from a vendor I have never heard of.

If you are into Mengelberg Amazon.UK currently has a good price on the relatively recent Decca-Italy collection:
GBP 21 (15 cds). It goes for USD 100 on Amazon in the US ($74 in the Amazon MP).
The sound is a bit "crispy" at times, but it great music-making.

Note - Brahms: Symphony No 1 is also included in this set (Decca forgot to list it on the back of the box).

Sony's Wagner set (40 cds) for $24 (+S&H) on the Amazon MP

The box includes the Janowski Ring cycle with the Staatskapelle Dresden, which is very good rendition plus a bunch of other recordings. The set received mixed reviews, but the Janowski Ring plus a Keilberth Meistersinger, a Leinsdorf Lohengrin and a Karajan Parsifal is a great deal in my eyes. The Levine Dutchman has received poor reviews. Still, lots of bang for the bucks and definitely a great starter set for Wagner.....

The Janowski Ring is also available separately in another good deal (which includes the librettos) on the Amazon MP
$23 + S&H

The sound is actually quite good - after all these are live recordings from 1939 and 1940. Among other things there is a fabulous recording of Mahler's 4th in there.

I agree completely. I listened to Beethoven's 3rd and 4th recently and very much enjoyed the music. The sound is definitely late 30s, but I view it as a privilege to actually hear the recording. I guess one gets used to the sound of the era. So far the sound has been very acceptable from my perspective, but this is clearly subjective so potential buyers need to watch out. This is definitely not digital sound.

I'm doing you a favor. You just have to put your DIY hat on.  Make yourself some nice long narrow boxes and think "card files"! :D

I'm curious about the Cluytens.  That French Beethoven box used to go for a song, but the price jumped quite a bit. If I get it, I will (of course) go for the whole shebang.

My first ever LvB set (on LP) and still one of the best that I own. For that price it  is well worth getting just for the performance of the Pastoral - sublime!
Cheers
