Not super duper, but still a good deal:

DG's R Strauss set is currently listed for 69 Euros at Amazon.de.

The new 50 CD DHM box is available for pre-order at Amazon JP for about $65. Of course, there is no information at all about what is on it. It could be a re-release of the earlier box, for all I know. Still, a great price from an awesome label.

Well, simply a bunch of excerpts from the HM discography, without anything really logical. I kinda hate this sort of boxes, but sure the quality of each interpretation is very fine, and the sound of most of them is first rate. Still it is more a promotional article imo than a really interesting set.

This one definitely seems more of a promo-sampler than the Lumières set. I'll pass, though I guess I might reconsider depending on price (and if I can get my Pile back down to reasonable levels).

Anyway, welcome back.

Definitely 50 CDs of DHM. So not the same track list as above?

If this is the same box as a few years ago, it's the best single box ever issued.

Oh I hadn't seen this one ! Well, no, DHM and HM are two entirely different labels.

About the DHM, I have found the tracklisting on HMV, and it is an entirely different collection, mixing well-known recordings with more recent ones :
http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/artist_Classical-Collection-Boxed-Set_000000000088040/item_New-Deutsche-Harmonia-Mundi-50cd-Collection-Ltd_6034631

Very, very tempting !

I also see that Accent will soon release a 55CD box-set on the Asian market (ASIN B00O7LONP6 on Amazon.jp). Another very tempting item.

About all these box-sets, I have published yesterday this entry mentioning where each of recent boxes is less expensive, and if it is an urgently good deal or not. It is in French, but I guess it is not too difficult to understand (and you can translate it with Google anyway).

Thanks for the track listing. Better event than I had hoped.  About as tempting as someone selling their winning grand-slam lottery ticket for $5.  Again, you can preorder it from Amazon JP for about $65 (you have to sign up again, however, your password for other Amazon sights doesn't work).

About the disc listing you gave above for the old HM "50 year anniversary" box, is there some reason you believe they are re-releasing it?  That box would be worthwhile (to me, anyway) for the Herreweghe stuff alone.

The Fricsay box has just dropped to 65 euros at Amazon.IT

Many of their prices have dropped through the floor! Did you see the Bernstein boxes? The Strauss opera box is 42 Euros after the Vat is taken off, and many others are similarly cheap (although their shipping cranks things back up quite a bit...).

You are right. There are quite a number of bargains in Italy at the moment. I guess patience pays off at times (Unfortunately, I am lack patience when it comes to music).

Yes, their S&H to the states vary from about 10 - 22 euros. The Bernstein 1 box carries the 22 euro tag -- LOL. I wonder why they have obscene S&H while the UK has a nominal fee. Even Japan has a very minimal shipping charge.  Hmmm.....
It seems like they charge 10 euros for pre-orders and then 22 euros when the item is available. At least that is my current hypothesis.. :)
But bulk purchases seem to negotiate the S&H quite a bit!  $:)
