Go to JPC de, look in the charts, many Hyperion boxes for low prices, for instance the Chopin box, Schumann songs, Purcell Odes, etc etc, lots of cheap Brilliant boxes too.

Not yet, but when they do, you will be the first I will alert :)

I'd hang fire it's been a good 20% cheaper than that

Well, considering that's about $75 delivered to the US, it's pretty good.  Especially with it costing almost $180+ in the US otherwise.

Haven't seen this mentiond here (if it has, then I apologise for the duplication):

The Erato Reameau box is priced at GBP 27.08 at amazon.co.uk...

Thanks for the Rameau heads up!

Also at amazon uk, not exactly super duper, but the big box of Reiner is down to 88 quid and even less from outside E.U.

Pre-order was 60£ once ... shipping and all, it'll cost me less than 55£ (plus added taxes and crap of another 20€ or a bit more, but no way of evading that, other than paying the local price, which will surely be 150€ or even more).

Not sure they'll really deliver, but at that price, it was worth a shot (or rather: I couldn't hold back from trying):

Now ... do you a) all have the Westminster box (or better the two Korean ones instead), b) are all totally not interested in that, or c) think it's totally OOP and there's not a chance this will come through?

a) I have the three of them, actually most of this one is made of recordings you can't find in the two big Korean ones (and they even found a way to leave out a good number of other recordings...
b) yes yes yes I am :)
c) it is not OOP and you will certainly receive it !

There's no reason why Amazon.it wouldn't deliver your order, this is a bargain but only one among many of them, currently. We discussed that these previous weeks :)
BTW I have updated several times the complete list of current Amazon.it bargains (and another update is coming ;) )

Okay, good to know it's not OOP - wasn't sure about that, but I'll patiently wait then. I wasn't sure I needed this although I have very few Westminster recordings, but there are so many recordings of standard repertoire and most of the box consists of such, so ... will also have a look at your most useful blog again, then (though I just ordered a few dozen HM discs from presto's sales, and a dozen or more Supraphon ones will follow soon).

With the Westminster Box I have too many recordings of those I want already. I am not paying EUR 50 for Scherchen rehearsing Wellington's victory, although I'd love to hear it.
If money and space were not as tight as they are right now, I'd get it anyway (for the stuff I probably will not be wild about but somewhat interested in), but I have to focus a little...

Manos

One reason I bought the newest Westminster box is it contains Pierre Monteux's Beethoven Ninth Symphony, the one I was missing from the series. The others are split between two London double-discs, and one of those sets is out of print.

Noticed that the Erato box dropped on Amazon UK. Baklavaboy recommended this set, right?
Now at 58 GBP. An esoteric compilation from the Erato archives. Many appear to be excerpts (opera/vocal) and/or a single cd from an original double cd release. This latter aspect is a bit disappointing. I would have preferred if they kept the original releases. The reviews on Amazon are glowing. Would anybody here at GMG recommend this set?

Probably the eclecticism of this set will drive a lot of people nuts, and for those who are familiar with the majority of this, they probably have what they want already and maybe don't want the rest.  For me it is a treasure chest.  I had nothing from this box, and didn't know what most of it even sounded like. I literally went through and played it from 1 to 50 and for me it was a great experience.  I love the Das Altewerk and Teldec boxes as well (Warner released all 3 simultaneously).  The recording and performance standards are very high.   In a way it is pointless to recommend it.  You can look at the list of music/performers and probably know pretty quickly if this is something you would get excited about or not.  I look forward to eventually going through it all again :)  (The accompanying books for all three are quite poor, btw).
It's all good...
