But . . . isn't "Cyber Monday" a week from yesterday?  Just askin'

Hmm, I thought Cyber Monday came the Monday following U.S. Thanksgiving?  ???  I could be wrong.

Does anyone know if Amazon Germany started their yearly classical music deals which are only valid for a few hours. I cannot find it.

It's supposed to be here:

http://www.amazon.de/gp/angebote/ref=nav_cs_gb?gb_hero_f_101=p:4,c:255882,s:available

The Davies Haydn symphonies and a 35-CD Bach set from Hänssler are the only classical deals so far.

Yes, that's right: a week from yesterday will be the Monday following [US] Thanksgiving  :)

Yep saw it, well not yet has the time come to have them all in a neat row, only 2 offerings.
Thank you for the link

Right. That's why they call those sales during the week leading up to cyber monday by that name.

Thanks for that explanation.  From an American viewpoint, before Cyber Monday would be both Thanksgiving and Black Friday . . . so labeling something Cyber Monday before Cyber Monday is counterintuitive on more than one point ;)

This may be so but because neither Thanksgiving nor Cyber Monday mean anything to German/European customers, it is just a name anyway.
I had never ever heard of the last one before those amazon sales... despite having lived in the US for almost a year in the 1990s I was not aware of the special sales at the Thanksgiving weekend either until a few years ago. Probably it was not so bad in 1995.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday mean virtually nothing these days.  A few special sales, but I think you need to keep your eye out constantly regardless.

I hate the way it's gone lately.  Thanksgiving is no longer special and stores open even on that day.  Thanksgiving is a sacred holiday in my opinion.  Family and family events, but no shopping and no stores should be open that day.

not sure this links works - it's music, not restricted to classical, but I see nothing really enticing:

Chopin on Brilliant (starting in 40 minutes), the Haydn starting at 4:30 p.m. (now it's 9:40 a.m., for those in different time zones), tomorrow morning 9:10 the DG Strauss complete operas box (regular price is 82€, so this could be a deal for those interested ... I picked up various of the Böhm recordings in single editions instead, did get the EMI box though). Plus there's a Lang Lang somewhere in between, and a magazine set dedicated to Rubinstein (from Die Zeit).

The link works, but you have to work through a lot of rubbish you don't want to have. Last year they had a line exclusively for classical CD'S. They chose not to do that this year.

Yeah, I bought a few goodies last year ... but this year it looks like there's so little, it's not even worth creating a separate classical category.

A couple of days ago they had the DG/Decca Karajan Opera box available for 80 Euros....

ritter

I don't know whether it really qualifies as SCDB (it's only 12 CDs for around 35€), but this is being offered by AmIt at around half the price than anywehere  else on either shore of the Atlantic (that I've seen, at least):

To be fair, jpc is also competitive in this case...

Snatched the DG Tchaiko Masterworks box on aDE for 30 yesterday ... wasn't online long enough to let you folks know, I'm afraid, and I must have snatched one of the last ones around. Not sure it's really a huge bargain, and I wasn't even sure if I should pull the trigger (where are piano concertos 2 & 3, don't we all know the first one by now? but then some of it is not in my collection at all, repertoire-wise - the operas for one - so I guess it wasn't a bad move after all ...)

Anyway, JPC has some Vivaldi discs from naïve for a tener:
https://www.jpc.de/s/1238733_71536?searchtype=cid

And most of the DHM 10CD sets for 15 (same on aDE, just in case) - can't find the link to the series anymore, but a search for "DHM edition" should do it.

And aIT has some interesting classical offers upcoming (though none for me, either have them or decided not to get them):
- Fricsay 2 (have)
- DG Originals cube (have, actually snatched in the same sales a year ago)
- Complete Glenn Gould (have the Bach box and most of the rest in the most recend Gould Collection series)
- Decca Mono cube (have)
- Horowitz in Recical (don't plan to get unless for 50€ ...)
- Karajan 70's (never even considered ...)

some (the Gould) starting very soon - here's another link, hope it works:

So did I, and the rest of your quote goes for me as well - didn't Universal have recordings of those concertos? Sloppy work I say.

For those interested in the US:

An Amazon MP seller has this set for $66. Maybe not a 'Super-Duper Cheap Bargain' but certainly not a bad deal and the cheapest I've seen on any Amazon site (so far).

Long story short, I received this Stravinsky Complete Edition for free based on the fact that the package (shipped from Amazon Germany) was perceived to be lost and with good reason as I bought the set on October 11th and it's just now in my hands. Christmas came early this year. :)

Senn 598 Headphones on sale for just under $95. Great deal for a good headphone. Don't know how long it will last.

Where's Ken B when you need him? He has been looking at these headphones for quite some time. Really hope he has seen this sale. This sale has 5 hours left so far. Thanks for alerting others, Neal. I've owned these headphones for several years (the Ivory ones) and love them.

I can use those headphones, remembered to use this site's amazon links to order them.  Good deal in Canada too when shipping is included, and a good exchange rate as well

DG may not, but Philips had Werner Haas with all Tchaikovsky piano concertos, so it is strange that they are missing
