Well sung, heavy orchestra, don't like Ramey's ham acting. Why did the cameras show peripheral figures and miss out the money shot of Giovanni going to Hell??

I wasted time: and time wasted me.

Great Gable

I have not seen many Don Giovanni, either live or on DVD, but my preference is for the Losey film. That scene sends shivers up my spine, which is exactly what I want from it. Another special mention is for the Furtwangler version on DVD.

Why, what do you think of the scene?

Furtwangler's is painfully slow...Losley's is cool to look at it but it sounds like they are singing into a box.

I personally loved it, it can use more fire, but the voices are great and the orchestra to like Knight said. They focused to much of the demon things but I liked them, It would be nice to see DG's face a little more, I agree.

I have seen and heard better. The Comendatore is very good, the other interpreters have a controversial style.

The best Comendatore I ever heard was Rafael AriƩ, in Rosbaud's version.

For the complete scene, Fritz Busch (with Brownlee and Baccaloni) and Giulini (with Gottlob Frick as Comendatore) are the best I know.

And I cannot forget seeing Tito Gobbi playing Don Giovanni. It was incredible.

this video is wonderful. So at the premiere of Don Giovanni,in this scene, did they use the ghost and devil mark like that?
