Just recorded this off the radio, with Binns, Davis & LSO- it's really quite exotic and mystical, I've no idea how Rubbra does this but it's one of the best things by him I've heard.

Could you tell me which radio station Sean? Maybe they keep it in an archive on the net so I can record it as well.

Hi Thom, it was broadcast on Classic FM, which is art music mutilated into mindless offensive trash for the masses, except for their 'evening concert' which includes complete works and covers some interesting ground, largely as a result of the sheer cluelessnes of the producers. Radio 3 used to be the British high art bastion but is almost as bad now.

As far as I know there's no repeated listening facility on the site; it was broadcast last week- here's this week's stuff:

Thanks Sean. Indeed, Rubbra and classic FM, amazing almost. I admire Rubbra greatly, his symphonies that is. And of course his violin concerto.

The Violin concerto was broadcast too and I've been playing it today- obvious echoes of the Prokofiev, and Walton and Sibelius etc, but a fair effort for an eclectic piece. Also on was the a capella Missa Sancta honorem Dominici (if I've spelt it right), restrained and elegant.
