$662.50          Seller:  valleycd
+ $2.98 shipping
LOW ITEM PRICE

So your position is that there exists no set of circumstances under which a person -- no matter how resourceful or determined -- could attain these CD's (or their digitized equivalent) for $100.00?

I'll bet you $100 that you're wrong ......

BTW, "VALLYCD" ain't the only game in town .....

D., please don't leave me in the dark, as that looks like a supreme recording. It's perfect for my collection.

I'm not suggesting that at this moment I have an opportunity to buy this set for $100.00 -- I'm merely saying that I could, if sufficiently determined, "attain" this set if all options were considered (wink wink), including options beyond Karl's tempting VALLEYCD opportunity .......

Thanks, all, for your suggestions.  I already have the majority of items recommended--guess we share a love for good music!  As for a couple of them...I never buy a boxset that can't fit into the bed of my pickup truck!

These are the choices made:

And all for just a little more than $100.  Thank you, Santa--and friends!

Now what if Santa gave that to a neophyte?

In a way, this is the least necessary list for the GMG Classical Music Forum members, who have swallowed the bait -- and the line, and the sinker -- long ago.
But I would be interested in what others think are the best 'grabbers' in classical music to get either the non-existent average listener or every listener hooked.

QuoteBack in February of 2013, George Pieler and I wrote a column here on Forbes.com
("Two Cents About Classical Music For $100") on some of the market- and technology-
changes that affect this sneakily growing, more-important-than-you-think niche in
21st century entertainment: classical music. We followed this up with an actual list,
"How To Build A Top Quality Classical Music Library For $100" – which refers back
to a 2011 post on Tyler Cowen's "Marginal Revolution". Here's the sequel.

The complete list on Amazon on CDs – and as mp3s/streaming.
