I have it. I've only heard the string trio. It was that trio which set me thinking about how Lachenmann sits in the context of other German music, especially Neue Einfachheit.

On Nov. 28, this livestream begins with a rare Lachenmann piece — at least, "rare" for those of us in the U.S. Thanks to the JACK Quartet and others, Lachenmann's chamber works have gotten a lot of exposure the last few years. The orchestral pieces, not so much.

Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, piano
SWR Symphonieorchester
François-Xavier Roth, conductor

Lachenmann: Ausklang, for piano and orchestra
Beethoven: Symphony No. 7
