Yeah but you always post late at night, after you've come back from the VPO and RCO concerts! ;D

Hmmm...that's true.  :P

I own about 400 Classical and 350 Non-Classical (mainly rock/electronica) releases - if individual Discs from boxes are counted it adds up to just over 1000 Discs last time I counted :).

I have a counter in the software I use for cataloging, and that tells me every month the progress, I would say I have to many, a total of 24.688 CD'S :o

That is a shitload.

You guys here who own thousand of cd's - do you think you will ever stop or reach saturation point?
I really do believe there is a saturation point, i own 1600 discs, i believe saturation point for me is between 2000 to 2500 discs, after that you just end up with shelves and shelves of discs that seldom get played, i always keep my collection in stock by having constant little purges, it will take me years to break the 2000 mark.

But i'll never stop buying CD's.

If you had a 24,688 CD changer and hit play now, the last CD would finish playing on June 27, 2013.   :o

But if you posted a message on GMG describing your reaction to every one of those CDs you wouldn't come close to matching KarlHenning's post total.   ???

When I moved to London, I left my CD collection with my parents in the United States. So this is a really easy question to answer!

At my UK residence, I have the following CDs:
- Russian Cello Recital (Wendy Warner, Irina Nuzova) (MusicWeb)
- Fleur de Paris (Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker) (MusicWeb)
- Emil Gilels Beethoven sonatas 9CD box (Amazon.fr purchase)

So 3 or 11 depending on how you count. :)

Got some CDs - some from MusicWeb, some from Amazon. The total is now up from 11 to 27!

But it takes an hour to a listen to a cd, and only one minute to post a Monty Python joke. ;)

That is a mindboggling statistic. If I'm ever to approach Karl's amount of posts I suppose I should start posting more chortles. As in ("chortle")   ;D

Topic duty: dunno how much cd's I've got. More than I can store, yet still not enough Bach.

Bump.

Did a count today, for the first time in many years, also for insurance documentation. I used a click counter which made it an easy and quick thing to do.

- 3092 classical CDs, 442 CDs of other genres (jazz, rock, folk music, pop, entertainment, music from movies)
(+ a good deal of downloaded material)

- 4630 classical LPs
(+ a secondary LP collection of maybe 1000 LPs of other genres, LP material also on CDs, LPs with just interesting cover designers, and some stuff to sell or give away).

This coincides with a sense of having reached somehow a saturation point.

I recently parted with 400 CDs, including some inexpensive Brilliant Classics material etc., to a second-hand shop & got a price I felt was reasonable.
I´ve also been selling a good deal of stuff on e-bay.

The want list is also down to 2 or 3 items, that aren´t rare or expensive & which I already own as downloads.

About 5000 classical CDs. I have something around 44-48m of shelves full with CDs but this is only a rough estimate due to different kinds of shelves. With standard single jewel boxes 1 meter corresponds almost exactly to 100 discs. Because there are many boxes that save some space (but also a few that need more), there is some error but it is accurate enough for me.
About 120-150 non-classical CDs and a little more than 1 meter of LPs. Only a dozen or so of music/opera DVDs.
