How Many CD's do you own?

This will be interesting, I've always wondered how extensive other forum members disc collections are, so...

• How many CD's do you own?
• And how many CD's do you buy per year?

So starting with me, i own 1600 discs, and i probably buy roughly 75 per year.

I'd have to dig around and bend over and stuff so I'll just guess around 600 actual CDs.

What does the number of CDs mean?

I have around four thousand CDs. I know someone who has around 30,000 CDs.

My collection is much more various than his. That is, there are more different composers and pieces in my modest collection than in his "26 recordings of Beethoven's fifth et cetera" collection.

I would have no idea how many CDs I buy in a year without doing the math. So, 28 into 4000 equals slightly less than 143. I get rid of some each year, too.

And I bought around 80 CDs in one day, once. That was shortly after Amoeba opened its Hollywood store, a mere 70 miles from where I used to live.

When I moved to London, I left my CD collection with my parents in the United States. So this is a really easy question to answer!

At my UK residence, I have the following CDs:
- Russian Cello Recital (Wendy Warner, Irina Nuzova) (MusicWeb)
- Fleur de Paris (Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker) (MusicWeb)
- Emil Gilels Beethoven sonatas 9CD box (Amazon.fr purchase)

So 3 or 11 depending on how you count.

1200 perhaps. Haven't counted lately.

50-100. This year ~80 so far. The average price is about 7 euros ( £6 / $10 ).

Total discs. In other words, I counted each disc in each box (each RING, for example has 12 to 18 CDs). I own a lot of opera, a lot of box sets.

Are downloads counted in units of "albums" or "tracks?"  What does "own" mean.  If you join Naxos music service, do you "own" 10,000 CDs, since they are available to you?

Thinking of it, in the past month I have acquired a 172 CD set, and in the past couple of years, 3 sets in the 50-100 CD range.  At this point, I'm afraid to count.  But I have recently resolved to put all those CDs on hard disc (flac) and play music via an external DAC attached to a PC.

iTunes says I have 54 days, 22 hours, 58 minutes, and 38 seconds of music. But adding my new CDs, I have 55 days, 12 hours, 7 minutes, and 1 second of music!

Depends if they were purchased as a whole album of tracks or as singles, I guess.
