It was Nigel's choice to go, I respect that. But it was not small mindedness on the part of GMG members or our Dungeon master, that forced Nigel to go. That was his interpretation of the situation, and was a flawed one IMO.

Yes, when rules aren't enforced, their existence becomes pointless.

M Forever can be reached via email through RMCR (link appears earlier in this thread). I emailed him recently and he was most helpful and knowledgable as usual, but not abusive.

Ever notice in high school that the bullies weren't mean when others weren't around? I think there's something similar with M.

Major signs of insecurity......

It almost was like heaven! 0:)

And is now as dull as I see heaven to be - if I were a believer in that fiction!  8)

Well I was wondering who these individuals are:

I agree with you Harry, we already have some back that were as bad or not worse than M was.....

Because I haven't seen them.  (Unless of course you're talking about me  ???)

This is a bit cryptic for me.  I can only suppose you must be referring to Lilas Pastia - who I agree is a most dreadful hooligan.

Sorry, Harry - but No.  The real Nigel has not returned

and if he should choose to return - which I doubt, unless certain rules change - he will return under his own name, not hiding behind some pseudonym!  ;)

Nobody could puncture pretensions quite as quickly (and brutally) as M - and on occasion, one has to say, it was well deserved.

Some of us were equally adept at puncturing M's pretensions...

And speaking of well deserved...!

In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Nigel left for a number of reasons, not just the banning of certain members, though that is what he deplored most - especially, I think, when the choice of those who were banned, tended to be those who were most outspoken, not necessarily though who were most malicious, for example.

I always had the impression that banishment has been quite exceptional, and that M was either the only one or one of very few ever to be banished?

Greta

From one of the (I think) last posts of his, did this have anything to do with the banishing?

He was really not nice to Sarge there...

Moreover, I have noticed that since this banishment took place, the behavior of those who post here has greatly improved.  :)

If you look up a lot of other things posted by M you will get the picture (that linked post was not unique). I thought M was great, though.

Yes, so did I.

One of life's conspiracy theorists - and blindingly quick to detect a slight on his character or nationality (usually imaginary) - but I liked him (a lot.)  So what if he called me an ignorant philistine and declared eternal enmity based on my expressing a liking for a certain conductor in a certain work (can't remember which.)  I've had a lot worse - and what's more, from people who actually meant it.

Yes - bring back M, say I!
