He probably even has you categorized, Greg.

Just "probably"?

No one escapes the calumny of our self-appointed judge and jury. We're all a bunch of stupid phonies.

That list had some really funny ones.   ;D

I'm surprised there wasn't one for "Spelling police"

I can't find any reason to or don't know how to refute your point, so I'll insult you on your improper spelling to denigrate you and make you look like you don't know what you're talking about.

The A-Z list I drew up last year was my tongue-in-cheek attempt at parodying all the poster types I had come across on various music Forums which I used to frequent, as supplemented by my early experience here.   As you will see, there are "normal" categories A & B, and I'm happy to say that all of the recent posters in this thread fall into those categories.  However, I can assure you that I have come across characters who fit into one or more of the other categories.  I'm sure you will spot a few you may recognise if you work down the list.

It's perhaps worth adding that this Forum doesn't seem to attract quite so many loonies as I've seen elsewhere.  The reason for this, I guess, is that they wouldn't be so easily tolerated, as peer pressure would tend to expedite their early departure. On some other sites, where the clientele was less sophisticated, the loonies seemed to be tolerated for far longer partly because the normal members didn't have the nerve or knowledge to tackle them, and in some cases the Mods, for a variety of rather peculiar reasons, tended to protect their rights to continue spewing nonsense.

Returning to the main subject of this thread, I was merely saying that in my opinion it seems naïve to organise a "campaign" to get people back who suddenly left without explanation.  In order to clarify this further, and broadly consistent with my analysis of poster-types, I offered some explanations as to why people disappear, and why it is probably not worthwhile trying to get them back in the form of a "campaign" as such.  If this taxes any of your intellects I'll know next time not to write anything so complex.  I hope this clarifies the matter.

Speaking as somewhat of an "old member," I must say how shocked I am at the vindictive bent of the subject header . . . .

lukeottevanger

But that would be faulty punctuation again, wouldn't it, Karl? Surely it would need to be 'Campaign to get old member's back', wouldn't it? Of course, it might not refer to you, you know.... but watch out behind you just in case!

MN Dave

Keep that old member away from me.

Getting some "old members" back would require divine intervention.

Thanks for the kind thought, but believe it or not some of us actually understood you the first time.

You call that complex? It was just long and unnecessary.

No one who uses a gemstone as an ID has any jurisdiction to tax my intellect.

Doesn't it seem like all I post are lame jokes now?
