Denver's performance apparently shows the dangers of Colorado's flirtation with legalizing marijuana.   8) 8) 8) 8)

What do you know about foorball being classed as "Entertainment" rather than as "Sport"? If it were a Sport, wouldn't the 32 franchises act individually... but, the act as one cyclopean entity.

Super Bowl = Superb Owl (it IS masonic after all, hidden in plain sight) boheimian groove (das grosse owl)

All sports are entertainment, even if only for the participants. I wouldn't want to make assumptions about the 'realness' of anything I see on TV, but I think you are confusing football with pro wrestling.... :)

I cannot have an opinion: I watched Dr Strangelove, and then the Life of Brian.

Instead of Life of Peyton...

Glad I missed the game. I was at the beach with Kimi instead.

I don't think so. Apparently NFL is CLASSIFIED (by whom? uh) as 'Entertainment' or 'Sports Entertainment' just like WWF. That's what was asserted by whoever it was that was trolling somewhere earlier why you ask me all these questions anyway!?!

and yes, they showed a video with a Kobe game where the refs were just obvious... I wonder if the realness of these things is a RELIGION to some and that's why no one dare call it rigged because then their whole apple pie 401K goes down the toilet? I still think Superb Owl is more than just an unexpected look-see.

Just better hope you're betting on whomever the controllers are for!

As acrobatics, pro wrestling is real. Maybe as a grand deception football is real? Surely the whole juiciness of it all is that only a few people need be involved... "should we do it with the quarterback, or with the sideline ref or the kicker?" "soooo, you love your wife at home doncha? well, we need you..."

Oh, that's right, this is a mozart music forum, those things only happen in red states!

I mean, people aren't here, it's their religion. Everyone wears the saaame colors all the time here.

Modern reality has been written by people like Ben Shahn. Bread and circuses. What would happen to America if their god was unmasked?

I enjoyed the game.  It's always a pleasure to watch an exceptional team (Seattle) do its thing.  As for Denver, they were very entertaining with all their goofs.

Although both teams reside in the two States that have legalized recreational sale/use of pot, it might have been only the Denver players who stoked up before the game.  It sure looked like Denver's center didn't know what was going on.

I enjoyed the game, too. I loved watching Seattle's unstoppable defense.

Terminology question:  shouldn't offenses be unstoppable, and defenses stop-everything.

I confess I didn't watch this one, like I didn't watch every other SuperBowl.

That's true. :) I meant to say unflappable. That's a better adjective. ;D I'm not a football fan, but I did enjoy watching this one because I thought Seattle were the underdogs.

Well, I was certainly glad to see the Broncos clean Panthers' clocks for Super Bowl L. Peyton Manning's last game I'm sure. The Panthers were really sore losers post-game. I believe Cam Newton even walked out of a press conference. Is this the way the MVP is supposed act? Anyway, a great game and there's one thing that Panthers continued to do throughout the night that cost them the game: they underestimated the Broncos' defense.

That Bronco defense was amazing, not only in the Super Bowl, but in the AFC Championship game against the Patriots.

Yes! The Broncos defense won that game for them as far as I'm concerned. Manning played decent, but well enough to make some good passes. Loved watching the cocky Panthers go home. They really were some sore losers as their quarterback Cam Newton got up in the middle of an interview and walked out. Yeah, really fine way for the league's MVP to act.

Brian

Boring game with sloppy play. Incredible defense, certainly, but not very fun to watch in general. Commercials were not that good. Bruno Mars and Beyonce saved the tepid Coldplay show. Lady Gaga absolutely knocked the anthem out of the park, though.

Overall D+.

I thought it was a great game actually and the halftime show was god-awful. Lady Gaga also was equally horrible.

Brian

Wow, no. Lady G was the best part of the whole night.

The best part of the halftime show? All the superstars dancing together at the end and Gustavo Dudamel jumping up and down behind them, like a big dork, secretly wishing he was famous enough to join them.

Well, it's all really subjective, Brian, isn't it? I never have liked Lady Gaga and thought her performance wasn't up to snuff. The best part of the night for me was watching the Panthers go home.

You must not be a fan of singing, John. Thousands aren't, no shame in it. I never thought I would actually say something nice about anyone who calls herself Gaga, but her voice is tremendous (last year at the Oscars, she equaled Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music bit). She did better with the Anthem than almost anyone I have ever heard do it, and at 64 years old, I have heard a few! She could have made it easily as a serious vocalist, maybe she just realized the money was in pop, I don't know... :-\

No it's not. Your reaction may be subjective, but the fact that she was brilliant is anything but.

FWIW, I was pleased to see the Panthers get sent to the house too. Even if they are back next year, Peyton will be gone, they can have what's left after that.   :)
