I said a while back I'd be making follow up purchases with these artists, and I did.

Interestingly enough, ordering the Raichel CDs directly from AmazonUS was as cheap as the least expensive MP vendor, once s/h was added in--so I did.   First direct order from Amazon in  a while.

Two of these three I actually got a while back but didn't post, methinks.  Been jamming them.

[asin]B00068B93S[/asin]
Ali Farka Toure: RED & GREEN (World Circuit, 2cd)
Two early recordings of his.  No electric guitar yet, afaik.

[asin]B005APT72M[/asin]
Sam Cooke: RCA ALBUMS COLLECTION (Sony, 9cd)
Really I probably could have dispensed with all of this except for the two dynamite live albums, NIGHT BEAT and ONE NIGHT STAND, which as I understand it offer two snapshots of the man performing for two very different audiences with an interesting adjustment of nuances throughout.  I think there is a really good Cooke anthology of ~4 discs that includes both of those on one disc.
Even the worst cheese [not everything] in the balance of this box set is alchemically transformed by his voice, though.  I do love his voice.

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I've seen it 71 dB, it's a little one sided but ultimately a good documentary.  I hope that you enjoy it.

If she doesn't get naked in this film, I see no reason why I would watch it. It's certainly not to get some enlightenment out of it.

Holiday is the best, George.  If you need any insights, PM KevinP.  He knows a ton about her:

Will do, but I have most of her studio recordings covered now. (minus the live and alternate takes)

Also ordered this CD last week:

One of the few non-Spielberg scores.

and this:

Some of these spy music re-recordings are great.  This one fits that bill.

Stepped into Barnes and Noble on Friday and stepped out with the following

Miles Davis:  Birth of the Cool
John Coltrane: My Favorite Things
Billie Holiday: Lady in Satin
(not the same issue as George's)

and two five packs, as you may call them, from the "Original Album" trend of 5CD boxes

Ray Charles
    The Great Ray Charles
    Ray Charles at Newport
    The Genius of Ray Charles
    The Genius Sings the Blues
    The Genius After Hous

Miles Davis
    Round About Midnight
    Miles Ahead
    Milestones
    Porgy and Bess
    1958 Miles

Round About Midnight is a duplication of a CD I already have, but all the others are new to me.

Something that had been sitting at the top of my 'eventually' cart for months and months:

[asin]B008RZ99DY[/asin]
THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO (1967)

I needed it to replace the long missing disc 1 of my PEEL SLOWLY set.  I regret that the final push to re-acquire was Reed's passing.
There is another, slightly older 2cd version that looks similar but includes the mono edition of the record and differing bonus material that I was not as drawn to.
