Hello again! I had joined GMG a year or more ago. I guess there were problems then. The site went down for a week or more because someone's wife was rushing them out the door (I forget the details). And then something else happened not long after, and my membership was invalidated. Anyway, this still looks like an active, thriving community, so I thought I'd give it another try. Hopefully my membership will stick this time!

Lately I've been getting into Stravinsky, Vaughan-Williams, a CD of Villa-Lobos' chamber music, some early music, and a lot of opera (including a modern opera by Jonathan Dove called Flight -- exhilarating!).

Problems are everywhere, but we are a tight community, and we solve problems.
Anyway, I don't know about wives rushing them out, so I love to hear the details. ;D
So, again, you are very welcome, and we will not invalidate you.... ;D
Stravinsky has a large following here, especially after the release of the big box of his works, so plenty to talk about.
Enjoy!

You sound *valid* to me, bvy!  ;)  There's always an interesting discussion going on here & you'll have some good things to contribute too I'm sure!  :)

P.S. Stravinsky fan here too!  8)

Welcome, bvy, from another huge fan of Stravinsky.  In a couple of weeks I'm hearing Boulez and Chicago in Pétrouchka, and can't wait.

Oh sorry.  I meant to post: "I'm going to hear Sarah Brightman do a set of Schubert songs."

Thanks for the warm welcomes. My son (twelve in April) is an aspiring singer and is exploring the boy soprano/treble repertoire with his voice teacher -- so initially some of my qustions/interests will be in that area.

Probably my favorite of Stravinsky's works. Of course, I'm still exploring. Oedipus Rex is a pretty wild ride also.
