Your top ten heavy metal albums?

I haven't heard him in a decade, but I remember King Diamond (formerly of Mercyful Fate) had some interesting vocal techniques to show. "Abigail" and "Them" were two albums that I used to listen to a lot, and mostly because of their conceptual lyrics and KD's voice.

Those are really cool albums. I love "Fatal Portrait" and "Don't Break the Oath".

Yes. DBTO is a Mercyful Fate album though, right? I still remember some of the introductory words in 'The Oath' -cause back then we thought it was cool to know the intitiation oath

The most pressing issue is that most metal utilising normal singers that is not derivative tends to be... to put it colloquially "gay" (not a word I really throw around, but the negative kind of contexts that its users direct it to tend to really almost all do apply to melodic power metal).

Yeah, that is how I would describe most of that stuff.  Nothing that there is not some better 80s metal.  Guess Mike Patton is all there is nowdays

I still love it though, I just can't listen to it with anybody else in the room The child-like happiness and cheese factor can be super.

I'm sort of a late-comer to "metal". I'm very picky and this list could have been at least half Judas Priest albums because they're my overall favorite--but I restrained myself. I've tried listening to all the major acts and don't like a lot of them all that much. And some of these I guess you wouldn't call "metal" but then I'm more of a hard rock dude anyway...
