You know, a great deal of heat is lost through your bare head, especially in winter. So you could wear a hat too and sort of kill two birds with one stone.

There are secular Jews as well in Brooklyn and no one tells them how to wear.

This is all an invention of Marazm.

Maybe because you look Jewish.

Where do you live?

How do Jews "look".

They don't look like 7 feet tall vikings, that's for sure.

Subtlety is not one of your strong points.

Peter

I think people need to stop taking things so seriously. There's worst things in life then being "offended" or having your "feelings" hurt.

Where I live in Brooklyn--I moved last month, there are these Jewish patrol cars.  They are big 8-seat Chevy SUV's with red lights.  They pull you over, ask you if you're Jewish, and if you say yes they will ask you why aren't you wearing a hat.  They can be real d*cks to you you.  :)

Also there is a Synagogue really close to where I live.  Every Sabbath, if I make it home before sundown and usually I don't, it sounds like we are just about to get bombed.  It's an air raid siren!!  Two obnoxiously loud and very long calls to make sure all Jews drop all electrical appliances, etc.  Holy crap! it's SABBATH, drop what you doing. I seriously want to start a petition b/c this is ridiculous.  It really scared me the first time.  Why not have a bell or something nice?

d.

:o ???

"Holy crap" :D

I've been asked if i was a Jew a couple of times, once by somebody who was not a Jew, oddly enough. I guess i must look like one as well. I've taken an habit of carrying a copy of Mein Kampf under my arm for such occasions.

I thought it was pretty darn funny myself.  :D

Why so surprised? It's only a more aggressive variation on our door-to-door Gideon's kazoo players we have in the South. When confronted with one I politely tell them where to go.  0:)

can you imagine the idea  of *selling religion*.
I am so against missionaries.
though the chritsians believe they are doing a  good thing as missionaries *go preach the message to all corners of the earth*. How ridiculous.
Now if they want to build schools and hospitals, thats OK, but they don;t need to build a  church.
Let the people make up their own free will.

Oh, but that's the more invidious version of prosletyzation. You see, where a society fails in providing basic social services, a vacuum is created that can be filled by others with ulterior motives. That can be Scientology trying to set up childcare facilities in Germany or Saudi Wahhabists setting up mosques and community centers in Bosnia. It's a way of gaining influence over a captive population in a time of need.

I agree.
but if many central and south american governments are not going to provide basic services, schools/med care, do you feel its a  good thing if the christian missionaries go in to assist the people?

Oh sure. I'm just saying, this can be a dangerous thing. There are some missionaries in South America who are among the most courageous people in the world, fighting armed thugs to preserve society and the environment.

Who said it was a joke? You, sir, are not wise in the arts of trolling.
