I had a friend in grad school, and there is one thing that I would never forget about her... and that is that she really, really liked South Park. :D

So I would just say beware of making blanket statements like that.  You have a much higher change of being wrong than you do being right.

In this case I'm not so sure; I think the gross stereotypes probably apply. In this thread only a few of us even know one....one!...female of the species who likes South Park. I'd say odds are pretty good that most women don't like the show. I'd wager the ratio of viewers by gender is something like 20 to 1. I have no way to prove that. It's based on nothing more than my arrogant certainty about all things having to do with gender differences, of which I am a self-proclaimed expert. ;D

I completely agree with lisa needs braces (by the way, click here for surreal but funny. Unless you speak Spanish. Then it's just funny.). Family Guy's humour rarely hits the mark, once you get used to the idea that they're just doing the most random thing they can think of.

Futurama and The Simpsons pre-1999* are far more clever and witty, and South Park far more irreverent, than Family Guy could ever hope to be.

My thoughts exactly. It always kills me when Bender literally sh!ts a brick.

Nah, my favourite is always the wordplay.

Bender: Oh. Your. God.

Or...

Fry (referring to a security video): Hey, look, it's that guy you are.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, it isn't the adults who make fun of the "children," its the teenagers.

You are right, that show is way funnier than Family Guy.  ::)

Futurama was pretty funny, but not as funny as family guy. Family guy is funny in a very SHOCKING way.

Not really that shocking, unless you missed the last thirty years of world cultural history in which case it might seem very fresh and "shocking". I do think Stewie is funny, but I can only take him in small doses.

nah, come to think of it, Family guy is not really shocking at all, i give it a 4 on the shock meter.

Why does the small guy talk with an English accent and can anyone hear him?

no reason, because it's more interesting that way

Why does the dog walk on its hind legs and talk? Was there a first episode where all this was explained.

well, Brian is one really smart dog, went to Brown University you know.

Why are the children so stupid?

because their father is a retard, it's in the genes.

What does Lois see in this idiot?

no freaking idea.

Isn't this endeavoring desperately to be so not like the Simpsons?

that's a good thing

It is always shown late over here but it is aimed at teens, isn't it?

there are a lot of jokes that younger audience probably won't get, and countless cultural references. I think kids in their late teens and adults enjoy watching. this show

If you don't know why don't you say so?

It is a bit like opera. If you are able to suspend belief then, I suppose, you can enter its world.

I didn't say that it wasn't funny, just not as funny as the Simpsons used to be or anywhere near as subversive as South Park.

I still think that the little guy with the English accent can only be heard by the audience.

I don't like cartoons, but Futurama and Family Guy have some of the most hilarious stuff I've ever seen. Those are my only exceptions.

At least two of these questions asked are answered here:

I'm barred from accessing this :(

Futurama is much smarter than Family Guy. FG was much, much better before it got cancelled. It's been pretty dissappointing lately, actually.

Come on fellas, the Futurama 'opera' sequence from the final episode before the unofficial cancellation simply owns all this scenes. (Look out for Hedonism Robot towards the end.)

Also, Bender as God:
