I installed a 42 inch, Full HD Pioneer Plasma screen in the office at home, with a Loewe Blue Ray player, until in April a new High End Marantz player will come on the market.
That means looking at films and listening at the same time to classical music.
That means I have a slight chance of seeing some of my DVD's, now lingering in oblivion...
Anyone do the same?

Harry, which Marantz BD model are you referring to? Do give us your impressions when you have it installed and tried!

The day they announce the release of an HD opera production in Blu ray with high definition PCM (24bit/96 KHz or better) sound I'll seriously start considering buying a player. So far, apart from early adopters, one is advisable to wait one or two more generations of models to pass, until really reliable profile 2.0 BD players become widely available (and competitively priced). I see myself in the market for one of those around the start of 2009. Until then, either a BD drive for the PC or a PS3 will do nicely.

I had this Marantz player at home for a few weeks, no modelnumber yet.
I will purchase this player as soon as it comes on the market, which should be at the end of the month.
Absolute stunning picture quality, compared to the Loewe I have right now, its overwhelming.
I have at home a normal high end player from Marantz, which was also a flagship of this firm, and is considered one of the best players around, but no upscaling alas.
I think its wise to wait a little bit with buying a Blue Ray player, although with this Marantz which can be software updated is a safe player to buy. Price will be around 2000,- euro's.
