Amerzone, another blast from the past. Ditto Syberia.

And like The Longest Journey (and Phantasmagoria, since Philoctetes mentioned it), games I missed when I should've picked them up, and only read about, ultimately. Then again, I was playing my Warcrafts, Starcrafts, C&Cs and Baldur's Gates, at Amerzone's time: I don't regret it!

You mentioned Baldur's Gate. Did you ever get around to playing the Fallout series or Arcanum?

Absolutely.

(One of my rare one-word responses. ;D)

Edit: And I love them all. While I'm very, very glad to see someone else remembers Arcanum (Fallout has its fans). "A diamond in the rough", as they say! I also recently read an interesting article about what was going on inside Troika at that time, just before the collapse.

(Blast, there went my rare one-word response. But Arcanum is worth the word count, if anything...)

Arcanum is easily my favorite game. I absolutely adore that game. I've yet to play a game where I could simply wander and still enjoy myself vastly. Great soundtrack as well, and the bugs never bothered me.

Another game I love is Spycraft, but very few people remember that game.

Spycraft I've never heard, I admit.

But of Arcanum, suffice to say it is one of a very few RPGs I've fully played through more than four times. Very special. :)

Edit: It could be the only RPG I've ever fully played through more than four times, but I can't be certain...

Spycraft was a game crafted by a former director of the CIA and a former general of the KGB. So it was about as ultra realistic as one could make a FMV. Rather short, but really fun. And fun is really all I seek in games.

I've actually never beaten Arcanum. I simply plod through it. I've gotten close to the end, and then I just restart. I just love the freedom offered.

You're probably better off this way. The ending is a somewhat odd part of Arcanum. You might see what I mean if you ever do reach it. Although obviously, there's still leeway in what you can do with it; just a few uncharacteristic bottlenecks, as well. As I said, odd. :)

(And fascinating, that piece of information on Spycraft. I'll keep the name in mind, if I ever bump into it.)

Oh, I already know the ending. I don't believe one can spoil something that is good.

It is a really cheap game. I got my copy for 10 bucks.

The point is really how the ending occurs, more than what occurs in it. To me, it felt like the most stilted sequence of events in the game. Not that I mind all that much, though, to be honest. It is still an improbably great game, on all counts, even for Troika.

Well I'll probably never have to deal with that. I recently restarted the game again.
:P

I do agree that it is almost too great.
