Taxman has bitten the dust.

Which one do you like less?

Either way, Paul wins.  8)

Discussion question: what should the next album in this weakest link series?

Gurn Blanston

Rigby.

Why don't you make it heart-wrenchingly difficult, like, say Sgt. Pepper's...  :)

I picked Rigby too.

I was thinking even harder, like a Greatest Hits album. Say, The Eagles Greatest Hits.  8)

Oh, other artists allowed. OK, well that particular one would be hella difficult... :)

Are there any Beatles songs on The Eagles Greatest Hits?  ;D

Blonde on Blonde?

Really?

I actually think that Highway 61 and Bringing it all Back Home are more solid albums.

A tragedy that is.

Among the two, I like Rigby the least.

J.Z. Herrenberg

Both songs are great. But 'Eleanor Rigby' seems to encapsulate a whole life. That's why I prefer it.

Another "One" bites the dust.

"Rigby" was a single that really appealed to me in the late summer and fall of 1966 when it was in constant rotation on Akron's Top 40 station, WHLO. It was also one of the few pop songs that my then girlfriend and I both agreed was great.  The theme of loneliness took on personal meaning when she soon left for college, leaving me alone with one more year of high school. But it worked out in the end: once the song left the airwaves, I met and started dating a cute cheerleader who, uh...cheered me up ;D

Anyway, "Eleaonor Rigby," truly a classic song and possibly my favorite Beatles' tune. But if "For No One" wins, I won't be too disappointed.

The next album should be Rubber Soul, which is practically Revolver's twin. It would then be interesting to pit the winning song against the winner of Revolver.

Is this about some difficult software? :P

Just back up slowly, Harry, and leave quietly, and you won't get hurt.

;D :D ;D

Eleanor Rigby--one of the greatest pop songs ever written, in my book (and many others).  Looks as if this esteemed body of music lovers is about to validate the quality of their collective judgment.  ;D

Ya want another tough one, George?  How about More Songs about Buildings and Food?

Let's not forget about the genius of the arrangement, a cheer for another George (Martin) is well merited here.

Anyone ever hear Angel, Down We Go Together off of Morrissey's first album? It also has only string quartet and vocal. I think it's an even better song.

Um, I'm not sure that's the right band you have there.  ;)

Noting by Morrissey is better than the Beatles Nothing!

I'm glad you took note of that.  ;D
