Deleting your account is "ridiculously drastic" and that cockamamie scheme involving the double/blind random password mailed to a friend isn't?

It's not the only way to prevent temptation, though, and it's a ridiculously drastic one. Self-discipline, gents.

Or changing your password to a series of random letters and numbers, forwarding the new password to a trusted friend, and then deleting it from your own sight and logging off.

Well, I'd recommend self-discipline more highly.  ;D

Tell you who I really miss - Eugene (Ugh), the Norwegian scientist-musician who posted at the previous incarnation of GMG but for some reason never made the jump to this one. He was a really great guy, intelligent, generous, with a really musical brain full of insight. I've got his email address somewhere....

....I see he has a myspace page (I remember him talking about setting it up now). Unlike many myspace pages, this one looks good, too.

Oh, Josh. I miss him, honestly ...  :(

I PM'd him about a month ago, and still haven't heard from him.  ???

MN Dave has de-registered and is now a "guest"!

Can I just say? If you ever plan to leave, don't delete your account. It's really annoying to me to see that empty shell of "guest" next to all those posts, and it's also highly irritating when it comes to looking up old posts and so on. But aesthetically it's awful. If Dave, Mark and so on still had accounts, but perhaps with signatures explaining they'd left, the forum would be nicer and tracking down old discussions/recommendations easier. Plus, seeing "guest" makes me depressed.

:(
Dave, I'm entitled an answer to my question.  Take a stress pill and think things over.

Of course, it should be said that "MN Dave" wasn't his first incarnation either... (dtwilbanks).

Arnold Layne had a strange hobby
Collecting clothes
Moonshine washing line
They suit him fine

On the wall hung a tall mirror
Distorted view, see through baby blue
He dug it

Oh, Arnold Layne
It's not the same, takes two to know
Two to know, two to know, two to know
Why can't you see?

Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne

Now he's caught - a nasty sort of person.
They gave him time
Doors bang - chain gang - he hates it

Oh, Arnold Layne
It's not the same, takes do it now
Do it now, do it now, do it now,
Why can't you see?

Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne
Don't do it again.

I'd leave if I thought anyone would notice.   :-\

Maybe he's testing us...which presents a dilemma. If we notice he's gone, he'll stay gone. If we pretend we haven't noticed (we'll have to delete our posts, Brian) he'll come back. Oh, what to do, what to do...

I'd welcome you back, Dave, but that would just encourage you to keep pulling this same stunt.  ;D

Actually, he was Minnesota Dave long before we ever heard of dtwilbanks. Dave is one of the constants in the world. He just came back as dt that one time to throw off the dogs... :D
