In response to Lethe: I partake in another forum which does just that. They have a 'diner' of sorts, and then they have the 'flame pit'.

Let's rouse your case and say Shakespeare has been popular for 4 centuries already, a feat I don't think 'Dirty Harry' will perform.

8)

And not even Dirty Harry-in any of his many screen incarnations-can match "Titus Andronicus" for sheer bloody violence ;D

Renfield left for Edinburgh in August and has not yet rejoined us here :(

I hope that he has settled in ok. We do have access to the net in Scotland :)

His posts were always exceptionally lucid and highly informed :)

Gosh, I wonder where he is.  I'm in Glasgow, only 40 odd miles away from him - hope he's going to take in the upcoming RSNO Season.

I am presently with family in Edinburgh, but was working in Glasgow earlier in the week.....rain and more rain greeted me. I have not explored it for years. I was born in a flat in Hill St. which is a couple of streets from Sauchihall St. Tramping through the downpour I counted along to discover that the flats at number 76 had been flattened and in their place, a Jesuit College.

I went to the Kelvingrove Museum to dry-off, the cafe there is good. I had haggis spring roll; quite a successful fusion. Before anyone asks, no, it was not deep-fried.

Back to Gloucestershire tomorrow, Lincoln Mon/Tues, then Venice. So, my absence from the site will go on as it has for the last few weeks. I hope to get back into the swim soonish.

Not in the canals of Venice, I hope. I wouldn't recommend it.

If he can take the haggis spring roll, the canals of Venice should be no problem.

I used to hate haggis too; I only seem to have acquired a taste for it since going south. Last time I was in Venice, standing on one of the bridges, two Americans approached me and asked what was the name of the ocean we were looking at!

You really ought to try it. Sir Thomas Beecham excluded only Morris Dancing and incest. So the poor dead haggis is no great strain to manage.
