No, Karl, you are hopeless, take my word for it.   :D

Well, all right, then.

M was very knowledgeable, but that isn't the issue.  He intentionally tried to provoke people for sport.  That is the difference and what got him banned.

Unless you're claiming that M had a way of disabling your scroll bar, I don't see what made him impossible to ignore.  I found myself in his sights a few times, I found his arguments sometimes uncomfortably compelling, even after ignoring the verbal bile he seasoned them with.

I agree with the compelling statement. That was his value.

And also the probable answer to your first statement. Being a naturalist of sorts, he put me in mind, not of the shark that he liked to portray himself with, but rather of an angler fish who waved his little lure out there and provoked the fascination of his fellow denizens, only to suddenly lunge forward and swallow them whole. What Lilas is saying is that many people are easy to ignore past, but that little lure was simply more than most could stand. Despite my private counsel to dozens of posters to ignore the little lure, only a small percentage were ever able to. And they disappeared down the hole... :)

I certainly agree with you  :). That's why I find incomprehensible that Harry's posts should muster such animosity. It's all in the scroll bar, as you say.

You must be joking.  Do you honestly believe this?  ::)

If this was a serious assertion then it was repellent and totally reprehensible!

I have a lot of respect for members who take on the extremely difficult task of moderator on this or any other site! It can be a thankless task-which is why I think that we do owe these particular members a debt of thanks. They may not get every decision they make right but no one could.

If you join a society or a club you must agree to abide by the rules. You may attempt to get those rules changed but, at the end of the day, if you fail to do so then you either stay or you go.

As I understand it, this site is owned by Rob. He has made his decision. End of story, as far as I am concerned.

The tragedy is that members who have something useful to say based on their knowledge of composition, the classical repertoire or as musical executants should end up unable or unwilling to contribute in the future. It is so sad too when what should unite each and every one of us is our shared love of music.

It would spoil the kudos of performing a thankless job if we went ahead and thanked them... :D

Honestly I was not aware of the fact that many posters think my postings are annoying, but from reading this thread I realize this is the case. My conclusion must be then that I should stop writing about the music I play and like. I will from now on only post the image of the record, and if anyone is interested at all to hear what I think about it, he or she can pm me. That looks like a fair deal to me. The only other option is to leave, and I have this in my mind for a long time, for I am truly disturbed by repeated, somewhat hidden remarks at my address. Passive aggressive behavior, as some call it. Well Freud did ask himself repeatedly, "What is on a man's mind", and now I know why!

Please, please, Harry, do NOT stop writing about the music you like!!!

I think that you are completely wrong to draw the inference that "many posters" think that your posts are annoying! Even if some were to actually think that then (a) they can scroll past the posts and (b) you should believe that this is their loss

There ARE many members who find your posts both interesting and entertaining! THAT is what matters! Do not deprive those members-of whom I am one-of the pleasure of reading what you have got to say!! Please!

I know that I post (often far too) lengthy stuff on obscure composers which, sometimes, very few people will read let alone reply to and that may be annoying to some here. I don't know. I don't care!! If just ONE person picks up on music I love and comes to share that love....that is ALL that matters!

Reconsider, please :)

There you have it, H.C. must have decried a thousand times on this board that he has suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, and now he is claiming that the notion has never crossed his mind before, and the martyr is offering his phony resolution retire from the field of battle.  However, he waits at his keyboard for his cronies to chime in, "Please, Harry no, don't leave us, we need to know that every disk you load in your CD player is a treasure."  I'm sure they're preparing their missives at this very moment.

Bullshit Harry. I take your opinions for what they are- your opinions - and as long as you continue to behave like a gentleman I'd like you to continue posting. And for those who don't like them, scroll - or politely disagree and explain why!

Lis, thanks for sharing this!

Earlier this week, while walking the dogs, I came across 1 beautifully shaped, large maple leaf.  Most of the trees in our neighborhood are elm trees, so it was quite a beautiful sight.   :)
